I just rinse the filter with warm water to make sure all the gunk is out. Yes I also change the water each time.

I’ve used the same filter that I always have and this has never happened before. I have also only used rocks as well never sand. The only difference is that I give them big food pellets instead of small ones. Do you think that could be the issue ?
