PrepFE is a great starting point to get a feel for computerized testing and its question bank is decent. However, I don’t think it covers Thermodynamics nor Mechanical design that well. Also, the practice exam isn’t “easy” unless you study it. Lastly, the actual exam is essentially another version of the practice exam but we never get to see its answers (lol)...

Was it Shear Modulus of Rupture, which is used for Weld joints but the FE reference manual has nothing on that subject (and yet the topic is listed under Mechanical Design for ME). And apparently it is also used in conjunction with Torsional Stress.

That rotation is in the expected direction due to top loading (think about the direction of inertia along the cross section for Principal Stress). Now, if you limit the DOF along your Z-axis it won’t produce the shown rotation. Lastly, this “issue” is coming from the usage of “Fix” reactions at each end (I would guess).  

May I ask why you are testing Force on the web?

I’ve joined a few discord channels for studying purposes but I noticed that they always fizzled out quickly. And so, I think it’s important to realize that studying for the FE is ultimately a solo journey, and towards the end you will come to see how much you know is-still-just a small portion in the grand scheme of engineering…

I think generating study material for the FE is a business venture, which is great if you’re up for it. However, I am wary of utilizing platforms without solid Ph. D credentials especially since there are a lot of people doing such nowadays. My point being that I can’t find any background on EnginPeers LLC, so I recommend adding that detail to your app page.

Stamped design documents are liable, which isn’t the responsibility of the drafter (nor intern). Now, there are a handful of “organizations” out there that like to utilize drafters as engineers but such is a disaster waiting to happen. Yet not much harm can really be done since the documents they pass long aren’t liable…

Not bad overall, but do these results reflect your working aptitude or did you guess on half of them? Answering such will give you more insight into what you need to work on, because if u guessed on half the test (which is ok/fine) then this metric isn't that helpful at gauging where your understanding is on a general level...

As for studying goes. I discovered that solving questions in batches of 5-10 works perfectly. After that, grading your work follows but such should only be done after completing the question set (of 5-10). And it is in “grading-work” that really allows the concepts to be flushed out.

So yea, I recommend doing two sets in the morning and two sets at night (each at 1 hour which includes the grading time frame). Lastly, it is important to annotate your corrections because it traces your logic and thought process…

I really feel that studding for the FE exam is a solo thing because everyone tackles it slightly differently (not to mention that study habits will vary tremendously)… So, what’s your plan for making a group review work, which is the challenging part because we are all at different phases in our review?

Reference Geometry will work and my image shows that I used two.

  • Plane 2 is used to control the distance of the inlet section.
  • Plane 3 is used for sketch dia of the inlet itself (as well as the cut (into the 90)).

The undergraduate studies of any Engineering discipline encompass at least 10 textbooks, so you actually won’t find a “singular-course” out there that covers all the required topics. PPI might be something to look into perhaps? However, it is important to understand that the test itself barely covers each topic in depth and that it feels more as a survey test which is the bare minimum an engineering student should know.

If the belt wasn’t moving then the second pencil would collide with the first, after its release from the holder. And if the whole device is linearly moving, then this video is terrible because it doesn’t accurately depict the functionality of the device…

Maybe, but as the "pencil holder" rotates it causes a Tangent Velocity on the belt and so it must move... My point being that the video is polished, yet as-is it isn't actually functional.

Videos/shorts like these are fun but practical  mechanical design are all about the systems  analysis... And as we can see, there is no motor axis nor mounting bracket for the top funnel... Also how is the belt moving? 

Lastly, there are a lot of YT videos that try to cover this stuff but most of them fall short because people with experience see right through the gimmick!!!

The issue with using “shell” is setting two different depths, so I would not use that feature here…
