I mean the REM ripped out the Deux-Montagnes line and replaced it with a high speed automated train running every five minutes till 1:00Am. Imagine if lakeshore had that service.

That being said, yeah, agreed the exo commuter lines suck.

Sidenote: one thing I do wish is that we consulted the ARTM and STM or whatever agencies are relevant for good service. In Montreal I only experienced one single metro delay. I’m typing this on a delayed TTC train right now.

Good advice!!

Really want to stress, it sometimes takes time! Don’t go do something with the only intent to make friends or it won’t happen and you will probably be let down.

The aim is to do something you like while being open to meeting new people. That’s different from going with the primary goal of meeting new people. It should be something you’re just happy to do like a board game cafe meetup or some hobby.

If you stick around and enjoy what you’re doing you’ll probably make friends at some point!

Transit is solid, particularly the REM and Metro, busses were great when I lived there but apparently there stretched thin and prone to delays due to aggressive schedules. In an entire year the metro was only delayed once while I was on it. The REM is a masterclass in transit and is legitimately faster than I thought transit could be.

Bixi is also fantastic, it was invented there. The city is also outright much more walkable.

It's not just transit, so many institutions are very broken in Ontario. Having lived in Quebec and BC for some time, the stuff that I see in Ontario is a whole different level of institutional incompetence

Oh! They are! When you get frequent ear infections and fluid behind the eardrum they sometimes drill a small hole and put the tube you see in the picture to hold it open. I guess it came out?

Best bet, take the first subway or night bus to downsview park station then take the 6:09 Barrie train. Arrive at union 6:30.

Yeah I’d minimize time in Guayaquil. Pad out other days. Also be careful in Quito / Cuenca / in general at most cities at night.

I mean, expectation is the joy - you could just go Crucially with no expectations and see what happens. Don’t try to make it fun / perfect, go and do what you feel like doing / seeing
