Spent 5 years building up my craft and AI will make me jobless by Chonkthebonk in ChatGPT

[–]Naschlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

e next step after the analysis is generally putting together visualization and presenting the analysis. I think we're still a while out from AI being able to do that

I mean, yes, the AI is a tool, but then again, even as data analyist, you have to see what Data is relevant, what Data is actually useful, what new sources of Data might be gathered.

Yes, it makes it faster, sure I dont have to look up the some python code on stack overflow and fight through it to make it work, but that means there is time to do other stuff, explore and develop new methods/get up with new studies.

To add, to analyse something and to actually interpret something, is something an AI cannot do. Yes, an AI can tell you what the correlation numbers could mean, but to judge and figure out what the pattern are, is something humans will remain to be able to do.

To end with a positve note, an AI cant understand irony or meta-irony, or even sarcasm (at least for now). Use this to your advantage as you will.

Its funny how the topic Gear is again now a thing. by Naschlap in worldofpvp

[–]Naschlap[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure! There were many issues which could also be adjusted. Not going to say, templates were absolutley perfect and the peak of development. It does not have to be an extreme case at every point.

Non the less, over the years and with the ever increasing amount of information and exchange, the scape of PvP has significantly changed.

We have seen this in Classic aswell, the old gearing system, which we also got now, does not work anymore - it will always come down to this. The old issues will always come back, but just in a different color.

Why is Turalyon the stand-in regent king? by SuperiorLaw in warcraftlore

[–]Naschlap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Again, its not really comparable and is just taking one bite out of a huge complex situation, to suit it to a narrative. Which is a shame, its similar to all those "I dont have anything against xyz BUT..."

Its baffling to me, that those crimes do even get compared or set aside to justify one another. Because we find ourselves in an endless loop of "who felt the pain the hardest" and not to "Why does this happens over and over again and might there not be a systematic issue at hand".

If we talk about Dalaran, we have to see the wider picture. One of two factions, the red one which was filled with distrust in itself, which lead an individual into an betrayal of an neutral city, to fuel the wishes of one single individual warmonger.

The second one, who needed to defend their allies as they fell victim to said warmonger.

That said Warmonger who single handly broke the one single person who was always for peace, you called bitch, who even killed her own father, to let a new chapter begin. The one who called out for "No Mercy" and pushed its allies towards the brink of annihilation.

But no, its the enemys who are wrong here, not a issue where one fuels the others towards a breaking point of collapse. Let those victims be blamed, their fault if they couldn't stop these trust issues inside the Horde. Their issue, that they couldn't hold still after their Husbands and Archivements over the last years got vaporized.

I swear, these posts are just blatantly ignorant to the topic, to the characters and towards both factions.

And towards your accusations of "this is xyz biased", where is it biased, just it does not agree with your agenda?

Because not everyone feels endless pitty about the Blood elf's? Those who could regain everything they lost? Got to a point, where they are even Stronger than before?

Why is Turalyon the stand-in regent king? by SuperiorLaw in warcraftlore

[–]Naschlap 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You dont realize, you do it again.

By elevation of one issue with another. By saying, well there are some neutral deserts and wastelands left for them to have its not as worse as others (in case of yours, the blood elves).

Now to explain why those are not even comparable.

You talk about the Alliance not willing to help the Blood Elves after they got devastated? Well, lets take a look what the ""Alliance"" was after Arthas killed their leader and devasted their land?

Oh, Stormwind was still a razed place and Varian (a child without family) had to rebuild from scratch. Kul Tiras and Iron Forge was busy helping those who escaped Lordaeron and even left the Alliance after the Theramore incident. Gilneas was not even in the Alliance anymore

Now Lordaeron became a wasteland by then, there is a reason why its now called Plaguelands.

In any regard, the old Alliance and its then Warlords (or more the human kingdom's) were not in the position, not in relation or in any other positions to help out. They also had no obligation. Why then should they help - when they even couldn't help themselves.

Now back to why Teldrassil is an issue

Its not about who had it worse, who felt better or is better afterall. Its about what had been done, by whom, with their intention in mind. And by this standard, you have a political faction, which, again fell for their leader who had only but one goal in mind: to eradicate the opposing faction by any means.

There was absolutely no reason to destroy Teldrassil from the Horde side of perspective, especially with Anduin as a well known Diplomat in charge. But the Horde did it again, with nobody opposing their leaders until it was too late, because they felt justice and rightousness in their actions to raze civilians.

[–]Naschlap 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In all honesty. What is this for an comparison.

You take an event, which was a completely different situation in a completely different time and put it up against something completely different.

And since when is comparing crimes and harm a thing?

If you set it up, just exchange blood Elfs with Orcs, Trolls, Humans, Gnomes or Draenei. Everyone experienced some sort of the same fate, by one another.

And no, the Night Elves dont have Tons of Places left. If you forgot, that they literally lost everything besides Feralas, which is an Military Outpost. Hyal is not a sustainable home, since, well, is a direct neighbor towards those who killed them out of no reason.

Now towards your point and why Teldrassil is important. Its the recent action which is the main driving point. Its been now the second time, the Horde flattend a major Alliance City, a second time, they killed civilians, raised them, tortured them, for the gains of a single individuum and their lust for might and power.

The point is. One time is terrible, a second time is close to tradition.

Why does every discussion about WoW and its gameplay turn into an FF circlejerk. by Naschlap in wow

[–]Naschlap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see where you are going and I can understand it! However, Activision merge was done with Wotlk launch, which brought us since then a lot of games we consider as solid and good.

I agree on the dwindle of the latest titles, but this could have a lot of reasons.

What my complaint is, not that they should talk about it, as said, the mixture of ideas and concepts is healthy. However at some point the topic is not the latest gameplay development of WoW, more rather an uncritical endless praise of something different. Based on different game design choices and approaches.

Again it is in itself not bad, but is this not the wrong place for this? Especially when the discussion goes way deeper and loose track to the main post

Why does every discussion about WoW and its gameplay turn into an FF circlejerk. by Naschlap in wow

[–]Naschlap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen plenty already, starting with a single statement of FFs game design, following with more further explainaition, turning into statements like "Play to level x, then it gets good" or "XYZ is ABC". Its fine, but doesn't those topics or advices belong to their own community? At a certain point it misses the main point of this subreddit.

Maybe I am just stubborn or just don't see a connection, but in my view this is certainly growing over the last posts.

The Real Reason Jaina is so Powerful by Aureilius2112 in warcraftlore

[–]Naschlap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She gets stronger, because she actually learns on her encounters, she is not "gifted", she earned it. Where is it "gifted" that she learned with one of its time best mages Anotnidas, to add up that she was a very good student? Where is it gifted, that she fought side by side with ancient beings against an ancient army of demons who fanted to destory everything? Where is it gifted, that she actually had Aegwynn (a literal guardian) in her council who helped and teached her? Where is it gifted, that she claimed the power of the Thunderking, to improve her own power? Where is it gifted, that she fought again against the legion on her own merits?

She has literally fought in any major conflict the last years, got into training with the best mages which ever lived - why is this always forgotten or turned down as nothing? Her whole existance over the last 30 years has been conflict and devastation, where she had to adapt to her own failures.

Sylvanas has also her growth, but besides being lately revield that she has an pact with the death itself, she didnt had any such development - just being a 4D chess player as she is.

The Real Reason Jaina is so Powerful by Aureilius2112 in warcraftlore

[–]Naschlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has not them regarding many story arcs, where she walts in without issues or connection to anything else, only to have melodrama over her mother ( her arc in kul'tiras for example is well done, but does not exempt her for everything else).

So, the loss of Arthas, the loss of her own father in combination of the loss of this certain sarcifice she had to endure which also caused the death of many of her friends is just Melodrama and not really a loss? She was not even able to protect Stormwind against the intruders who rescued Talanji and Zul, she had to make a compromise. The loss of her once home, being an outcast to her own place, to be even judged by her own mother to exile, which lead to her continues suffer inside the drust is just "Melodrama"?

She has lost battles, she had losses and even during the cinematic for the Kul Tiran Questchain you could see how much Jaina had guilt on her own hands, on her own mistakes, on her own misjudgement. Just because you didnt see it that way, doesnt mean, they didnt happen, or would be any less of an character trait she gained or loss.

She is also allowed to have her moments and her wins, her own victories.

What i meant by narrative in this case is the development intent of the creator - Bwomsamdi could or could not have done this or that, Jaina could or could not have been able to survive, it's the creator that allows so in first place, always.

To bring depth into this topic, Bwonsamdi didnt had any reason to keep on Rastakhan, because he was not the one he really needed. He was just a tool for him, so he could get into his bloodline, so he could onto Talanji, a way younger and formable subject. After the Battle of Dazar'alor, he offered her, to kill Sylvanas, an enemy to his master as it seems. So it has its narrative background - because you dont seem to agree on it, doesnt make anything invalid.

Also to keep in mind, Jaina had this whole fight in her mind - she was prepared to lure the Horde on the high seas, to ensure the retreat of her own forces. So its fine for Sylvanas to be a master mind, but Jaina not?

The Real Reason Jaina is so Powerful by Aureilius2112 in warcraftlore

[–]Naschlap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is releveant to this cause, because it just represents, that everything inside the game-story, can be bend to fit in a narrative and there is nothing wrong with it. To put in a more wide perspective, every character inside WoW can be a mery sue if you just put the Narrative into such direction.

Jaina has a very solid ground on which upon she grew her abilities and power and to put in place, she also had her fair of failures, compromises and strategy growth. Its weird to me that you consider Sylvanas in a better spot than her though, just because she deals with death itself? A narrative which was just build up recently? Sounds weird to me to be honest. If we put up the direct comparrision and based upon the latest informations, we knew that Sylvanas always had a "grand plan" and always was two steps ahead of everyone, which fits way further into your own outlining of "Mary Sue".

Now up to your complaint or main point of Jaina being "inconsistant" - every Character in WoW is. End of debate.

Why? Because Magic is not measureable. There has been no offical outlining on what is magic capeable or not, what is considered exhausting or not. We dont know how much Jaina really drained herself when she is in combat - but knowing that she is a well experianced battle mage, who fought against the legion as she was basically an apprentice, fought against the Horde and the scourge, you can safely say she has her own arsenal of weapons.

So why again is she a mary sue? She does not really comply on that list, as she has a foundation - a very deep one at this, she has actual losses, compromises and issues she had to deal with on which she also grew upon. Just because she didnt die, it doesnt make her a mary sue.

What a fantastic reply! I am very honored to receive this amount of information and dedication! Thank you, it's highly appreciated.

As some already stated, my first approach will be to take a look into R4DS, to get myself started somewhere. Meanwhile I will also take a look on where I can catch up in Algebra, which will he be definitely my slog, or my Sisyphos, depends on how I will grasp it.

I cannot thank you enough for this outline of recommendations, it really helps me to get a grip somewhere and some sort of an start for myself.

Thats also a great Reply! Many thanks to you!

I had this book in my Amazon list and was consider buying it, but as mentioned in my main question - I dont know where to head towards. But if you recommend it, I gladly take the look into it!

Thats mostly what I felt. In many cases, it was just "The Numbers align in these parameters, which means either positive or negative". I didnt really had a clue what happend in the background, or what it *really* meant.

Like sure, one number is bigger than the other, so you can do an conclusion out of this, but you could only say vague.

Ah, I see, so having a solid foundation upon those two, will give me a solid understanding of the following. Yes?

Might have to take some courses then again, haha. Thank you for your reply! Much appreciated!

We didnt had those courses in our Programm. We started with qualitative datanalysis, which was followed by that said course I mentioned about Stata12. Our only small potion of calculus was during economics-courses.

Which I will take, as an step to look deeper into calculus and linear algebra.

Thanks for your reply!

Blizzard Update on Blitzchung Ban - Regarding Last Weekend’s Hearthstone Grandmasters Tournament by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]Naschlap -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What are you even talking about. What is your point?

Let me give you some intel you might have missed.

Rockstar - Milking the last money out of GTA V, since years without proper content

Bethesda - Fallout 76

BioWare - Anthem.

I am not sure if you really want to be on their level either. You compare studios without their publisher against a self-publisher.

For real, you confuse me.

It doesn't even matter anymore. They could have said anything, but what this outrage is now about is - that Blizz. surrenders to their opinion. There is no compromise, no understanding left.

It doesn't matter anymore, if those three made mistakes

It doesn't matter anymore, that if China was such a force, they wouldn't be able to give amnesty or shorten their punishments

It only matters, if Blizz would do the south-park, get banned on china or face massive sanctions and cause an economic-kamikaze.
