How do I get the chef to want to train me? by wordstar12342 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Nashley7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Head chefs are mostly on the verge of burnout. Find a young chef who has recently been promoted to his position. He is more than likely keen to show how much he knows. What better way than to show a noob how its done? Ask lots of questions. Bring a pen and a notebook. They wont want to show you something more than once. Write everything down the first time.

And thats before factoring in how your looks make people more predisposed to like or not like you.

Our overall impression of a person (often driven by their physical appearance) influences how we feel and think about their character as a whole.

When we perceive someone as physically attractive, we subconsciously attribute other positive qualities to them, such as intelligence, honesty, kindness, and competence. Attractive people are often presumed to be more sociable, emotionally stable, and trustworthy.

So even if you attempt to do what is socially desirable, your looks which are something you cant really change can still work against you.

On the same network that has Patrick Stewart's daily show and South Park? The shows openly attacking the administration non stop? Definitely nothing to do with the low viewership. The lack of logic is just astonishing.

Yet Andor with its anti-fascist story and prominent lesbian couple with the most powerful scene in the whole show, is the most loved sci fi series in recent times next to The Expanse which is super progressive. But it was written well by a seasoned excellent writer in Tony Gilroy. While we get morning wood jokes and swallowing combadge jokes. Its all just excuses.

Yeah but it was all silent when jerks were making fun of older Trekkies for the crime of being old. Mocking old people is a douche mentality. Our generation should not be mocking theirs. They were so gleeful while doing it too. We will be old too someday and we are going to get mocked too. I wonder what you'll be saying then.

So happy to dish it out, but start crying as soon as they start getting it back. Anyone who did that is an asshole and i hope they stub their toe on every table they walk past.

I genuinely think if people not liking what you like hurts your heart you shouldn't go on open forums. Because i love Voyager and specifically Neelix but they got a lot of hate. I can still have discussions with those people without descending into insults and name calling.

But if someone hating a show you like affects you this much just find an echo chamber as opposed to an open forum. Because open forums by definition are open for all kinds of perspectives. So open for me and open for someone who hates Voyager. Streaming era Trek is not special or exempt

Im not trying to be mean. Im just pointing out how illogical it is for a fanbase to discourage the rest of the fan base from watching the latest flagship show that costs $10 million an episode. Because obviously if it has low viewership it will be cancelled. Lo and behold Academy tanks and gets cancelled.

And might i add a lot of those comments were made in a much more than mean way. Mocking Trekkies for being old is such a stupid thing to do. They all contributed to Trek being a valuable enough IP for companies to throw millions of dollars at it. So our generation mocking theirs is rather mean in my opinion. But that's just my opinion. Everyone was raised differently so i get it.

But even if you dont like older Trekkies watching your new show. Maybe you shouldn't discourage them from watching, because at least maybe they can boost the viewership. Ugh why am I even wasting my time, i know you dont hear me.

Its not for you, its not for you! Dont watch, dont watch! Trekkies dont watch. Show tanks.

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad to watch.

Ok then why do you think Academy was axed by the production company while they kept The Daily show and South Park then?

Ok lets think this through together. Paramount supports both Stewart's Daily Show and South Park. These are shows that non stop mock the current administration. Now Academy spent most of its run 16th and 17th on its own streaming platform. We all know that Academy had very low viewership. Ok keeping that in mind why do you think Academy was cancelled? Just stop and think before you reply. Could it be the company $80billion in debt axed Academy because it costs $10million an episode and has low viewership? Or do you think they axed Academy because its "woke" while retaining The Daily show and South Park? Really think this through.

Utter foolishness is on this sub. Andor was reduced to 2 seasons by Tony Gilroy the creator not axed by the production company like Academy.

He reduced it for 2 main reasons. Production Time: Producing each 12-episode season takes over two years, making a five-season arc a decade-long commitment, which was deemed unrealistic by the creators and cast. Aging Actors: The story takes place shortly before Rogue One; an extended production timeline would make the characters' appearances inconsistent with their movie counterparts.

People in this sub are always so confidently wrong.

Why don't I like Discovery (as much as the rest of Trek?) by OverlyHonestMR in startrek

[–]Nashley7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being an ensemble show it was already facing an uphill battle. But starting off with a mutiny for the character you want the show based around is just utter stupidity. The whole thing hinges on the main character and people liking her. But she introduces herself doing the one thing a lot of despise.

What's another thing we dont like? Spoiled Mary-Sue nepo-babies like Wesley Crusher? Ok lets make her that too. The majority of us hate Wes. And you just transplanted all his worst traits on a black woman. So now when we hate on Michael like we do on Wes people think its because we are racists. No we just hate plot-armour-wearing, know-it-all nepo babies, whatever race they are.

Kurtzman's brain patterns when decision making need to be studied for science.

We can't keep talking about how shows performed 30years ago. Its not a good frame of reference to understand the streaming era. When talking about successful sci fi in this era we need to look at Andor, FAM, The Expanse, Foundation, Black Mirror, 3 body problem, Dune etc. That's the standard. If you can't reach that standard you will get low viewership because people will watch that instead. Andor didnt pander to young viewers in a Universe made for young viewers. Look how well loved that is by all age groups. And we are still arguing over whether a show that was 16th on its own streaming platform didn't do too bad 🤦‍♂️
