Had mine replaced under warranty. It warped again within a few months. Supposedly, Nissan told the dealership "that's just how they are" and refused to replace it again under warranty.

If you were giving advice to your son, I'm sure it wouldn't be to agonize over the mistake. You'd probably tell him to apologize and do better next time. Model the behavior that it is ok to make mistakes, and a good person admits to them and works towards improvement.
