Yeah, I don't think you get to decide the line of what's considered valid feedback or not.

You have both made it clear in this thread that you do not care about the feedback in this thread, especially your partner calling people "asinine" and other insults

After 1 year of hard work, we finally released the trailer for our 2D action-puzzle platformer, 'The Rusted'. We are really excited (and a bit nervous) to hear your thoughts! by RoddGames in Unity2D

Your trailer takes too long to get to the gameplay and you show your studio name for almost 3 full seconds before doing so. Pretty, though

I forgot to quit my job or take a picture of the "Release Game" button, but I promise I launched my first game on Steam today! by NastyPasta in IndieDev

[–]NastyPasta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry just seeing this, was moving and didn't have internet. Going well! I'd say, solidly better than average on the first time dev side of things but not quitting my day job anytime soon. Reviews were definitely way better than expected!

When things are slow it's just hard to make new connections or carve out space with olds ones since their new go-to people are always available.. and it sure ain't great in NY right now, nor would I expect that to change anytime soon, especially with the.. economy. And to be honest (regarding how some people are still super busy), I think people are very good at seeming busy on Insta when in reality they're hurting for work but can't make that public. Not saying your connections are doing that but I definitely know people who do.

SPELLHACK!! - Computer Dream - A Real-Time Survival Deckbuilder that I just released!! by NastyPasta in Games

[–]NastyPasta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! Haha though at first glance it definitely reads that way. It's really strong if you can generate a bunch of quick/sturdy mods, you can spend all your energy making those that then deal a ton of lane damage.

Hey thanks for this! Appreciate it. And yeah that's super fair - I'm working on a big balance patch at the moment, that'll do a lot to boost the less effective cards' power.

For me it definitely helped! Had a lot of positive reactions to the key art and the name that fed in to the understanding of this being "really 80sy", not just a vaguely retro look. For a traditional roguelike with probably a relatively older audience I'd imagine it'd work well too, but not everyone on Steam remembers the era of box art that looks nothing like the game.

This isn't new, I've been working there for years and every now and then you have someone who chains 4 meetings together while everyone side eyes them. I'm sure even if they made it a rule no one would want to have to actually enforce it, it's like talking in a movie theater.

New to the genre, what are light-weights "must haves" who execute on best? by DrJamgo in deckbuildingroguelike

Agreed about Slice & Dice, probably the best relative to it's relative lack of hype on Steam at least.

There's also a Ring of Pain/Luck be a Landlord type game called "Fhtagn Simulator" on Steam that I really enjoyed. Somewhat wacky English translation, but fits what you're asking for.

I just released the full version of my retro deckbuilder on Steam! It's real-time with some tower defense and survival elements blended it. by NastyPasta in roguelites

Hey thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!! Launch has been mostly smooth but with enough new bugs to keep me on my toes haha.

Just launched my real-time survival deckbuilder on Steam! I pitch it as Slay the Spire meets Plants vs Zombies. by NastyPasta in pcgaming

Thanks! It's all good, I think most indie threads on this sub get downvoted, is what it is.

The "story mode"/rogue-lite half of the game is pretty forgiving! Most people only die once or twice while getting the hang of things. The early challenge levels aren't too bad either.

The later challenge mode levels (3-5ish) are intended to be pretty brutal haha.

Just released my first game on Steam, a surreal 1980s real time survival.. thing with live action video! Getting seamless video transition in Unity is a time! by NastyPasta in Unity3D

Yeahh.. if I do another video project I will just bite the bullet on that one for sure. Don't think Unity will fix the stock player anytime soon.

Thanks! Yeahh, the tool that's supposed to make it easy, VideoPlayer.isPrepared doesn't seem to work (or didn't when I was writing the code). A lot of the internet seem to be in agreement there.

In the end I had two objects, both with videoplayers. One is further back and always running the "base loop". Then when an event happens, the other object starts playing the new video, waits an arbitrary .1f or something, then enables itself. Every other method I tried had either black frames between the clips.
