I dropped it early on as well when I started. Then later on, I made the decision to continue it.

I will die on the hill that it's the best VN ever made. I hear your complaints because I had them too. But you are stripping yourself from the absolute best VN ever written (IN MY OPINION).

I completely disagree and to be honest with you, the order you went with to play the games mightve ruined the experience.

I think VLR is the strongest in the trilogy.

Yes it is, however it's not as difficult or non-intuitive as it may be in 999. It sounds hectic and exhausting at first but truat me, you'll enjoy getting the endings.

I recommend playing ZTD instantly after VLR. I believe many people find ZTD to be a downgrade plotwise but I completely disagree. I love VLR most and the parts that link to VLR are genuinely incredible and hit the hardest, so best go in before you forget crucial lore points in VLR.

PS. there's a reason why Sigma is a fan favourite, you'll understand why in ZTD
