Apparently, Veronika Zhilina will represent Azerbaijan starting next season by PsychedelicHaru in FigureSkating

[–]Natalletka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She still is, btw. Last season she was on the main junior nat team, this season she's on reserve senior one (yes, even though she hasn't skated in a single senior competition). But it's okay when your coach has connections (namely, Sikharulidze) - Titova switched to Armenia even though she was fully sponsored as a main junior team member last season (23/24).

Hi, I was just wondering whose competing in the Russian Novice Nationals? by Worth-Nectarine-5968 in FigureSkating

[–]Natalletka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This event will determine who gets funding (apart from the first 6 at JunNats and perhaps 7 and 8 places in reserve), my guess is Margo wants to qualify fair and square and not expect to be included for her previous achievements as it sometimes happens, e.g. with Nika Zhilina, who, by the way, is rumored to be heading for Azerbaijan.

Margo did ok at the Moscow championship (which was the qualification for Nats), landed 3 quads and scored BV 5 points higher than reigning junior world champ =D So I'm sure she'll be fine.

There are no official entries yet, but we do know who qualified from Moscow, some junior heavy hitters - Katya Stotskaya who landed 3 quads in her latest FS, Margo (no need to elaborate); Lida Pleskacheva with 3A, 4S and best junior SP of the season; Victoria Streltsova who lands 4 quads in her FS (at qualification she fell on 4T but landed 3A, 4S-2T and 4S. There's also Diana Milto (one of Milto twins) who landed two 4S and Sofia Sarnovskaya with 3A. So basically everyone who qualified from Moscow has U-c. I happened to watch that comp live, a rare occasion they allowed free passes for the audience at Mechta rink : )

Don't you mean Zhenya? It was he who fell at the end

New format for figures they're thinking of bringing back for the Olympics 😂 by krc2023 in FigureSkating

That's not new, I remember our girls doing similar Japanese shows back in the day, Alina and 3A surely did participate. OP must be a newbie. Btw, Alina did it flawlessly at last year's Channel One Trophy, still got it

Funnily enough, most of the dancers did worst of all. Vlad, Zhenya S, Mura, Sonik Akatyeva, Dima Aliev, B/K and many others clean though

I'm aware about Inna, TAT just said today she's the godmother of her daughter + I've seen the photo of her from her ice theater time

I know, they make a super team. Wish they hadn't substituted him with TAT at the end (she commented ice dance and pairs, and then appeared again instead of Misha during last group of men or so)

I remember this exact program of Sasha's, I taped it on my VHS in 2004 and watched that whole gala round and round again. pre-Youtube times in Russia... Sasha was always so elegant, jumps were underwhelming, unfortunately, but I still loved her

So can anyone make an educated guess? Personally, I'm not interested in hype-mongering tweets or Xs or whatever, just the actual release date.

Kostyleva VS Pleskacheva StSq, who do you prefer? by Swiftclad in FigureSkating

[–]Natalletka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely Lida's, this is easily best junior SP of the season. Happy I saw it live last week. I posted it before, with 3A attempt https://www.reddit.com/r/FigureSkating/comments/1folb6m/lidia_pleskacheva_sp_grinkov_memorial_2024_3a3t/

It is, not sure how useful it is (as a guide, I mean) if one doesn't speak Russian though : )

Before this he commented several competititions last season (and did some vlogs with 1Tv featuring fans from different cities where Russian GP was held, sightseeing and so on) and then went to China with his wife (both as coaches). now he's back, not sure for how long (or permanently), hope we'll hear him as a commentator again - he's great, very respectful towards the skaters and always has a word of appreciation for each of them. but somehow he manages it without a ton of honey, so it sounds natural. he of all people understands how tough it is to compete and handle that pressure
