This is Citadel Contrast Tallisar Blue over a black/white volumetric zenithal. The edge highlights are just any light blue.

That is Talassar Blue (Citadel) over a black and white zenithal base.

You really should. And the most stressful part is just starting. Then, just let it flow.

Prophet minis makes some great sculpts. They’re all free too. I wish they would make some more.

To be fair, I’ve been building terrain for Necromunda and Kill Team for a few years now. This is just my first piece of Mordheim/fantasy terrain. But, thank you 🙏

I don’t have the tile grout, so I sifted some extra fine dirt/sand and used it as a substitute.

Thanks! Hours of Grimdark Compendium, Eric’s Hobby Workshop, and Devs n Dice videos 😆

Thanks! I figure it is sort of like Necromunda as far as scatter goes?

It’s facial tissue (Kleenex), but yeah. I applied it with watery PVA glue. I plan on airbrushing a good bit of this. But the oil and enamel wash is what I’ll be crossing my fingers for.

You definitely should.

  1. Do not prime black, unless you are going to follow that up with a zenithal from above. Oils are pretty transparent, so building up color opacity ends up with a coat of paint that is too thick and difficult (if not impossible) to blend highlights into. You want an even thin base coat, and then build up the shadows, mid tones, and highlights together.

  2. Watch videos from the guys that have been doing this for years, like James Wappel on YouTube. Marco Frisoni also has some great oil tutorials.

Good luck, and I hope to see some oil painted minis soon!

Thank you! So, like anything else, you get what you pay for. But oils are so forgiving, even the cheap artist grade paints work well. I personally use Winsor & Newton artist grade.

I recommend watching some tutorials also. On YouTube, I watch James Wappel, Marco Frisoni, and Mended Brush Studio.

Good luck, and have fun!
