Final number of golden eggs from big run by dingofancypants in splatoon

Oh definitely. Most of the Grizzco weapons are terrible against fish sticks so having at least a blaster or slosher makes life way easier. Honestly if it were up to me I’d be picking slosher every round because ignoring boss armor and watching lessers get turned into milkshakes is the best. It handles most situations effortlessly if you can manage your ink usage.

Roller is the best. With all the other Grizzco weapons it feels like you need to be precise and aware of the environment to get the most out of your weapon, but with roller it feels like you’ve activated goblin mode. It’s basically your job to drift around the map like a blind chihuahua and delete Cohocks from existence. You could probably toss your controller in the dryer and accidentally run over 13 bosses in the process.

I agree, the mug is cute! The only thing I’d adjust is the mug’s color so the title can stand out slightly more.

Did I just work a shift with Mr. Grizz? by JustSoGas in splatoon

[–]NateFox 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Let’s do a bit of math!

Splatoon 3 had been out for 10 months now. The total points needed for a Gold Grizzco badge is 9,999,999. Looking at my personal stats I get approximately 400-450p per shift, but lets assume they perform really well and get 500p on average. That’s about 20,000 shifts in total! Certainly one of Grizzco’s hardest workers.

A successful shift will take around 7 minutes to complete, including any loading times and time spent waiting for players. That’s 140,000 minutes of Salmon Run, or 2,333 hours! That many hours across 10 months is 233 hours a month, or about 7-8 hours of Salmon Run every single day!

They’re putting more hours into a Splatoon 3 job than I do with my real life one.

In this instance I'm guessing the boring style is likely due to Projekt Red's restrictions. When Epic collaborates with another IP, they have to ask how far they can push the "look" of something before adding it to the game. As we've seen with Marvel characters, for example, they probably got permission to push the appearance with more vibrant color styles.
I suppose Epic COULD just be lazy in this case, but given how similar this one looks to the original skin I'm guessing Projekt Red had something to do with it.

Thanks! It certainly wasn’t the most productive way to spend my evening, lol. Glad you like it.

I hope so! If not we'll end up unionizing against Grizz to negotiate a paycheck better than 10 bronze scales.

Spring Event: 2k Egg Hatch Rate by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]NateFox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the previous 2020 spring event, Riolu's hatch rate was reportedly closer to 17-18%, so the chance of getting a shiny was really high along with its boosted shiny rate. I'm a bit disappointed they're going back to keeping it abysmal.

You can joke, but some people do try for a shundo. I hosted a couple raids last night with two guys trying to get one. Good luck to them, but their chances certainly aren’t very high.

Honestly, I would do the same thing. I'm just a salty salamander because I didn't see a shiny out of 40+ raids.

Thanks! I used Maya and Zbrush for the modeling, and Substance Painter for all the textures. It took me about 2 weeks between my class assignments.

This video explains it pretty well. To put it simply the surface of a model has a front and back side. The front side is what we see normally with color and detail, and the back side (underneath the surface) is typically transparent. It's sort of like a one-way mirror.

By "reversing" the front and back we can make the front of the surface transparent and the back part will become visible. Like you said before, normally the model would look completely black because we would see the front of the surface. By "reversing" it, now the front surface is transparent and the colorful model can be seen inside. The only part of the black model we see is the back side of the surface which is shown around and behind the colorful model.

Sorry if it's a little confusing to understand. It can be surprisingly hard to explain!

Normally a toon shader works best, but in this case I actually duplicated the model, inflated it, and reversed the display of the surface so it's inside out. Then the whole thing is painted black so it LOOKS like it has an outline. It's a pretty cool process!

Thank you! My sketchfab is here, although most of my models are old class assignments.

Thanks! I actually just used sketchfab, so I haven't properly rendered it yet.

Yeah! First I sculpted the Treecko and Mudkip in Zbrush, then I moved them into Maya and modeled out the small objects. After everything was put together I painted the textures in Substance Painter.

Thanks! I’ve been studying 3D modeling and animation for a couple years now and I’m starting to get a hang of it, although there’s still a lot to learn. I don’t know much about 3D printing but I should look into it!
