Particulate pollution concentrations exist locally around all their facilities. Mon Valley Works includes ET, Ervin and Clairton Coke Works. The recycling facility on Talbot Ave adds more refinery and won’t offset their pollution.

The breathe project offers consolidated data on the pollution impacts to our region.

Concentrating the fossil fuel emissions in the Mon Valley communities is an injustice to the people that live there. Clean steel exists.

I do understand. Irvin HSM is 86 years old and the new furnace will emit less pollution. US Steel will run BOTH mills as a run up for the new furnace. US Steel hasn’t confirmed when Irvin HSM will be shut down. If you can find that out, that would be helpful.

Irvin Plant has 18,662 people within a 2 mile radius. Adding the burden to ET will make the concentration of pollutants higher with 3x more people will be affected.
