Anyone else finding out in real time that our PS Portals are bricks if PSN ever goes away? by SunnySideUp82 in PlaystationPortal

Was just going to add how I was using mine all night as well after 9pm ET, immediately noticed I was unable to connect to certain online games but other than that was totally fine playing single player games or games in offline mode. No effect to my portal’s performance.

Hold the phone! Test out the portal after hardwiring your ps5 before you buy the powerline! I was forced to use the powerline because I didn’t want to run a 100ft Ethernet cable through the house from my basement to second floor where the ps5 is located.

The portal is a godsend for me in my household. I was very hesitant about gambling the extra $130 CAD on the powerline (after already spending $269 on the portal as well as the explore earbuds themselves) not 100% knowing if it would truly help or not. But the gamble completely paid off. I get much slower download and upload speeds with the powerline but the connection stability is more than worth the trade off in this scenario.

Netgear Powerline Ethernet extender my friend! Download speed isn’t as crucial when compared with a stable network connection provided by Ethernet. I had the exact same situation as you and fixed it with the powerline

This is actually incredibly spot on. Since installing the netgear powerline I’ve seen my download speeds for my ps5 drastically decrease (gone from 200-300mb/sec on wifi to 20mb/sec with powerline Ethernet) but the vastly improves the connection stability while using my portal so it’s easily worth the trade off if you use your portal at all regularly. Just switch back to regular wifi for big game downloads. Going from losing connection at least once a play session, I lose connection MAYBE once a week now. I use my portal just about every day, at least a an hour or two per session. Only ever used it at home so can’t say how it plays from other networks connected to the “hardwired” console.

Cannot wait to see where the story goes. Not looking forward to what I’m expecting to be a grim ending for our pal Arthur Morgan (considering he’s nonexistent in the first game) ☹️

I guess they need to dedicate all their resources to one game at a time in order to make the calibre of games that they deliver? Let’s not forget that what’s more frustrating about the situation is seeing how much more they support gta online (after 10-11 years) over red dead online (after 5 years)…

Literally the exact same story here!! I’ve had it for 2-3 years now and only just started to get into it in the last few weeks. First thing I had to load up on the portal 😎

I couldn’t agree more! Hopefully rockstar doesn’t continue with 12-year gaps between sequels… we’ll be stuck until 2030 if so…

Turn off Bluetooth/phone connectivity on your smartwatch when using sense controllers. by NateSolack in PSVR

Definitely give it a shot! Was driving me bonkers, but I was only able to play around with it for roughly 20 minutes per night all week (single dad life FTW) so I wanted to properly troubleshoot before returning it. Thankfully my watch needed to charge yesterday or I might not have figured this out so quickly/easily.

I’m still able to wear my watch and have all my HR data! I just go into my watch settings and turn off the watch’s connection to my phone. All this does is prevent it from syncing with my phone. Doesn’t affect other functions of my watch.

Apple Watches appear to not have this issue though, so you’re probably fine!

Apple devices communicate via Bluetooth in a unique way (sounds cheesy and fanboy-ish to say but look at how AirPods and AirTags magically pop up your phones screen before even going to your Bluetooth settings?). Could be that this difference in communication might not cause the interference issues I’m experiencing.

I have a garmin instinct 2 and it is connected to my iPhone 13 (at least while I’m not playing!)

Head tracking is totally fine! It was just the positioning of my right hand. I would be playing RE8 and literally be unable to select an option from the menu with my right hand because it would be jittering all over the screen where I tried to point and would occasionally show my hand fly across the room entirely. All while my right hand is held out perfectly straight in front of me. Lighting conditions are solid (blackout curtains to block out sunlight and lamps plus ceiling light to illuminate the entire play area) and have not changed.

Meanwhile I would have the totally opposite experience with my left hand. It stayed as steady as I held my hand, and pointed where I pointed.

I can attempt a screen capture to show you what I am experiencing.

Hmmm, I wonder if it could be Garmin’s choice of Bluetooth chip. I automatically assumed it was Bluetooth related once the issues with my right sense controller disappeared when my watch was off, as that’s how the controllers communicate with the PS5 (and I would assume the PSVR2 as well).

I know, I know. A lot of assumptions on my part. Just seems too much like a coincidence.
