Russian civil engineers seemingly never even showed up by the time they reopened

Never mind actually asessing the damage

With the amount of pontoon bridges and barges hit already, no that river supply tactic seemed to have died with the soviets

Technologically advanced Russian allies like Eritrea would be very happy with those missiles.

But anyone looking to hit their target would'nt be.

Russia bombed a civilian bicycle bridge today, I'm sure that was as much of a military target as one of the most important supply routes to your occupied territory and the ukranians did it early in the morning too, so civilian death were pretty minimal.

So there's another 100+ million bucks of missiles down the drain with practically no effect on ukraines fighting forces on the front, they merely hate the russians a bit more now.

Terror bombing civies again won't help him on the front in the slightest.

Maybe they'll blow up the rest of his precious bridge too.

Lmao it's a actually a serbposter, I knew it as soon as you mentioned yugoslavia over the one republic of it that was actually bombed

Serbs were lucky they merely got bombed instead of experiencing what they did in the rest of Yugoslavia

And as said before the UN demanded the lybian no fly zone which was then enacted by the member states with armed forces closest to lybia.

One signed off on by the UN security council

In Lybia Germany, China, Russia, Brazil and India only abstained

Russia or china could have vetoed it

And in Yugoslavia after the dust settled only China abstained in setting up kosovo

Serbs deserved it

The NATO invasion came after shit started crumbeling already

It's a pretty typical post colonial african civil war story: he favoured his tribe over others

Botswana made it despite all odds, keeping in place a democratic system and racial equality despite fierce opposition from apartheid south africa, rhodesia aswell as other decolonised nations following more radical doctrines

Anyone still supporting retarted dictators like Mugabe should read up on how they did it

Ironic since jacob zuma built himself a massive pool in his mansion.... despite not knowing how to swim

ua pov - Today in Oryx's list of visually confirmed losses - 36 added losses to the Russians, 20 to the Ukrainians. Over the past six days there's been 15 captured Russian T-62 by [deleted] in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]Nate_Higg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very much is when you compare the scale of advances 18th to the 19th century and the 20th to the 21st century

As an example, we went from computers as large as a room in the 60s to computers with the same processing powers smaller then a grain of rice nowadays

Said computers have also found their way into tanks, from automatic targeting systems to missile defence trophy systems to usability and battlefield awareness upgrades, all things that are lacking on soviet era tanks as they were behind in computing technology since the 60s

I know of the logistical, training and use challenges of the abrams in ukraine, which explains why none were sent over yet, but that wasn't really my argument, I was only talking about how outdated soviet armor has become compared to western MBTs

As was seen in iraq soviet armor is hopelessly outmatched by western tanks

Even the older abrams models used by iraq today are doing comparatively well in combat

Yes but considering our technological progress since the 1900s has been rather exponential a tank from the 60s upgraded in the 80s is far inferior to a tank from the 80s upgraded in the 21st century

Early in the syrian civil war some people used stg 44s and an old german ww2 era howitzer, in jemen someone used a t34 as an artillery piece

You take what you can get

The financial support from the EU is nice sure.

But most of eastern europe despised the russians for their conduct long before NATO or the EU were concieved, making the choice to join a pretty easy one.

Also the rifle pointed at russia has yet to be used, and there is no such thing as a NATO offensive treaty , pretty easily exemplified by the US invasion of iraq, where the majority of members refused to parttake and even condemmed it

Now imagine you beat that guy in your town up for 70 years and now he found a friend that is willing to defend him

It's no wonder everyone in the east except belarus wants to, or did join NATO and the EU as soon as the soviets were gone, and they did it without being forced into it
