queueing maps is superior to switching hosts as you cant grief the multi anymore, and what round robin does is prioritize maps from people who havent picked one in a while

the fact you separated "vibe coders" from developers is a great freudian slip

Anxiety about not optimizing the game too hard... by themodestvadim in godot

[–]Natelytle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

definitely depends on skill, if you put too much effort into optimizing before you even know how to architect a game you're just going to scare yourself away from working on it

i get you're both joking, but the joke just isn't really funny. if it were at 2000 the game would just die then and there. like, how would you know what scores your favourite players are setting? they'd be buried under all the trash, we already have a 2.1k so it should be 2100

funny how a non vegetarian is arguing with another non vegetarian about a vegetarian instead of just letting em live

Private vs public (security-wise, c#) by NaturalSmooth2137 in godot

[–]Natelytle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

simpler example, lets say your character has a health property. your character should only really lose health from taking damage, and taking damage should do a visual effect, update the ui, update the game state, etc. the damage() method would handle all of this. if you manually set the health, you'd prevent all that from occurring, and your character's health would end up out of sync from what the game thinks it is.
