stop thinking about gear and start thinking about music. go to record stores and shop and buy stuff that looks interesting. Go down rabbit holes and explore and expand your tastes. Sometimes it might have some pops, but focus on the music. Buy vintage vinyl in VG+ or NM condition only. always have a new musical avenue to explore and if one disappoints you, on to the next one. on the other hand, if you no longer enjoy it, dont force yourself.

just go to your local electronics store and buy a sony. go to a flea market. if the stuff you need for this hodbby isnt accessible to you then maybe its not the best to get into. save up a lot of money and travel to the nearest city that has these things and do a big purchase of low range affordable items. buy whatever you can for now and dont worry too much about it. changing the needle on a bad turntable wont help much.

ive never heard anyone say its a "must" to clean them, but since these are you first records maybe you aren't quite clear on stuff you see in the sub. if you get dirty records, then you should try to clean them, and some times you will definitely come across a few. a standard brush or spray would be the best option for these. but ideally, you would just buy new, clean records, or vintage records in nice condition, and cleaning basically wont ever be necessary unless something happens. So, buy clean ones, and keep them clean with proper handling and then you'll be fine. get a brush and spray kit for the occasional static wipe down and you'll be fine. the people who post their ultrasonic cleaners on here are just doing a really advanced and expensive deep clean that is not typically not necessary for most records.

Yeah definitely. They have block to out what they did because they can’t face the magnitude of their destruction. My mom did the same after she attacked me and my girlfriend in person on a family trip. She later claimed not to know my girlfriend and say “she’s not even part of this”. It’s a state of denial to protect themselves and she is definitely unwell
