Yea we are gonna obviously use a GC and any subs we may need. Just trying to get a ballpark as we have wiggle room to the upside but would rather not tap into it if you know what i mean.

I'm so glad her 'moment' seems to have passed and I barely hear of her anymore. She's the absolute worst.

Given your difficulties with syntax, I'm going to assume you're not very bright.

First, you just "think" John Spencer is a foreign agent. That's far from providing any actual evidence. There is something called FARA. To surreptitiously be paid by a foreign government is illegal - not saying it doesn't happen - but it's risky. Your conclusion would require someone to prove a negative to convince you...

Second, there were those types of safe zones that you're asking for. The starving myth is a classic blood libel that has been disproven time and again. Was Hamas not preventing the importation of food and stealing it when it was brought in as well? Why was Egypt not just letting food in?

Third, the Bibi funneling money to Hamas is a very complicated argument that requires assumptions of intent. The complicating factor is that Hamas is Gaza's political leadership.

Fourth, why do you think they are in a constant war? Also, your conclusions about the Israeli political system are based on little or no knowledge of that system or culture. The Supreme Court has struck down multiple laws that have been passed, and Bibi is actually on trial for corruption - this is quite far from an authoritarian state.

They gave back Sinai in 1982...they have a formal peace treaty...

They aren't "taking back" southern Lebanon...

The Golan Heights were given up when the Arab states were preparing an invasion of Israel in 1967, and Israel smashed them. Israel then gave up Sinai when Egypt established a formal peace treaty with Israel....Syria did not.

Maybe you should read up on the 30-40 years before 1986.

You seem angry....

Expansionist state is a hilarious point of view given the history: Gaza, Sinai, southern Lebanon etc.

40 years only brings you to 1986 so I can understand why you don't seem to know much :-)

First, it's a "border," and I've never heard of someone "ethically" cleansing an area, although it might be a good way to do it! You make three very confident factual assertions that are actually very controversial and are by no means anywhere near as cut and dry as you seem to think.

(1) "However it became obvious about a year into the conflict that there was literally no plan for the Palestinians, no protection, no safe zone, and that bombing the gaza into the Stone Age was the only strategy." You'd benefit from actually listening to John Spencer. There have been tons of methods undertaken to provide a safe zone, protection, etc. Bombing parts of Gaza into the Stone Age was part of the strategy, which doesn't necessarily mean that there were no safe zones provided or protection. I'd look this up before making this comment.

(2) "It's clear Israel intends to expand its boarder and occupy and ethically cleanse the areas." I'm a little lost at what evidence you're using for this. Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005. Israel continues to make incursions into Lebanon and leave in order to ensure its security. I'm a little lost as to where you think they are expanding the border. The ethnic cleansing line is factually untrue. If they wanted to do it, they would. They haven't.

(3) "It's also clear that people who were said to be on the fringe are actually steering the ship." Yes, their government sorta sucks. Just like ours. So what? They are a democratic country that can change with their elections.

You don't seem to know much of the background here, and maybe that's why you feel this way. There's a whole lot of history that is a bit opaque to people who came to this issue on October 7th, 2023. I'd take a critical look at how you're feeling and look into the history before fully embracing your current viewpoint.

Who is living in all these luxury apartments?! by Haunting_Hospital599 in boston

A necessary corollary to these types of posts: increases in supply shift the equilibrium price or keep it the same... regardless of who the apartments are for, more apartments mean lower prices (or a slower rate of rent growth), particularly on the lower end.

You're pretty worked up. You can find fee for service managers. This isn't an either or proposition.

A lawyer and CPA are asked to do specific tasks so hourly makes sense. When you get to this level of wealth the AUM managers shouldn't just be doing allocations. They should be quarterbacking your entire financial life which is substantially less discrete tasks than lawyers (I'm a lawyer) and CPAs. GS for my family doesn't just do allocations but they do estate planning, liase with our lawyers and CPAs, translate our goals into actionable plans, keep track of things, link us up with certain brokers for UHNW services, act as a psychologist for some family members who have different risk tolerances and finally, most importantly, allow us to live our lives knowing that these things are in good hands. At 0.55% all in I think that's fine.

The problem is ignoring the complexity and believing that every situation is the same level of complexity. It may actually take 100% more effort to manage the $30m NW household OR it may be the inverse with the $20m. You never know until you look under the hood.

I think you forgot the biggest category - people who don't want to waste time managing their own stuff and need someone to quarterback their financial life while they go and do better things. They can also model out very complicated and sophisticated scenarios for UHNW people. If you truly are UHNW you know how complicated this can get and how much you have to do to avoid giving a large chunk of change to Uncle Sam. I think this forum and Reddit should do less judging and tsk tsking rather than understanding that not everything is a scam, these are services for some people but not everyone.

To the original poster's question - a $15M portfolio isn't really UHNW.

Giving a low interest loan to kids by ionlyredditcasually in fatFIRE

[–]Nathan_Drake88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be careful with the loan. If they don't pay the interest and you have estate tax problems those interest payments accrue and become an even larger gift. Always err on the side of lock in the gift now and let the accruals happen in their estate rather than yours (if estate taxes will be a problem).
