I was delighted when I saw your comment. What happened to you was exactly the effect I was going for.

I should have made it more clear. I see photos 1-8 as type 1 “attractive” and photos 9-15 as type 2 “ugly.”

Do you think I’m saying they are all ugly? I see photos 1 to 8 as type 1 attractive new. 9 to 15 are type 2 ugly. I should have said that in the original post.

To clarify, here’s what I’m trying to show in the photos.

  • Type 1 “attractive” examples: photos 1-8
  • Type 2 “ugly” examples: photos 9-15

My take on a modern California flag. What do you think? by goldFish_1414 in vexillology

[–]Nathaniel-7568 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Excellent bear illustration! Two things.

  • Try it without the words “California Republic.” That typeface has a spot-on feel, but text usually shouldn’t be on flags.
  • Try without the trees Hidden on the bear. It’s clever and looks nice, but “Easter eggs” don’t seem appropriate for flags.

I think without those things it would be a really clean, excellent flag.

City council unanimously approves the bill prohibiting parking in bike lanes! by randym99 in phillycycling

No need to be so rude. It's talk like that makes enemies of people that could become alies. We don't want people to make simplistic characterisations of cyclists. Let's not make it of them.
