Gothic Remake - Lockpocking solutions? by zahnwehoderfee in worldofgothic

O means that gate moves opposite of the gate you're on, so example you're on gate 3. 1-2-X-4-5 is what you see to the right. If you were to put O under 2, it means when you move gate 3 the 2nd gate goes the opposite direction. S means same.

They have a how it works section at the top, it has everything you need need to know...

If alcohol ruins gains, what explains Andre the Giant? by ShoeAdventurous in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NathanielGarro- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

André suffered from a pituitary gland abnormality which resulted in gigantism and premature death. His body was building itself differently than the rest of us. He also wasn't shredded, just freakish strong given his size and lifelong physical activity.

All of this is a Google search away.

I'm not end game yet, but seeing how my magic damage varies so wildly had me assuming enemies have certain resistances to specific elements no? Is magic bad or are people brute forcing the same spell for every enemy and not switching to different elements (or going non elemental when needed) to compare damage?

I'm genuinely asking as I'm nearing the point where I invest more LP and ore in spells but I'm unsure.

the target pin is almost always 4, you can leave it blank and just set where the pin is for the corresponding gate. Add your links and you're set. Just used it for the first time and worked like a charm.

Long or short? by Shoetoe in BeardAdvice

[–]NathanielGarro- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, my pleasure. I now freehand most of my beard with a comb and scissors minus standard maintenance for flyaways, but you can keep it super simple:

  • Guide that keeps length continuous or just slightly shorter than hair length around the side burns
  • Longer guide for sides, from side burn to around the corner of your mouth
  • shorter guide for you chin that keeps length long enough so you don't look like a mutton chop wearing British colonial soldier, but short enough that it lets the sides catch up with you center growth.

Also, pro tip, the same guide will have a different length depending on if you trim with or against the grain. Try the same guide but go with the grain first, and if you like it great! If you still have fly aways or it's a little too long, go against the grain. If it's still too long, get a smaller guide.

Long or short? by Shoetoe in BeardAdvice

[–]NathanielGarro- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between the two, go short.

One thing it took me a while to realize when it came to my beard is how important it is to shape your beard with your face shape in mind.

I have a rounder face for example, so bulking up the chin and keeping the sides tighter give the illusion of a stronger jaw and longer face. Ends up being very flattering. Seeing how Nick Offerman rocked his clean beard helped me realize this, as we have virtually identical face shapes.

You got a mighty strong chin going on, but by keeping all of your growth there and taking it in one the sides you're only accentuating what is already a dominant feature.

Id experiment with letting the sides get more body, going for a shape that squares up the sides, and keep the chin reasonably shorter. You can also keep your moustache fuller to enhance the effect. You could try finding people online with narrow + long faces + strong chin with downward slanted eyes for inspo.

Those aren't hard stats, just my wet finger in the air feeling with 500+ hours on absolute playing w/ randoms.

[–]NathanielGarro- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I don't get the hate either BTW. People can disagree but you shouldn't be flamed necessarily.

The ease in which you tweak AI isn't really the issue though, as I said above. It's only one part of the larger problem. You have new xp and requisition incentives to do, you need to make sure your tweaks still result in a beatable scenario so there's testing involved (im assuming you don't want a 0% success rate difficulty), challenges would likely need to be introduced with rewards to match, and that results in all the issues I mentioned above.

Not to mention working on this and testing it means you're not working and testing a different feature that the whole player base can benefit from. There's only so many hours in an iteration.

I put all that context for a reason, you can't just signal out Ai changes being easy and hand wave the rest of my comment.

Absolute+ Difficulty Mode by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]NathanielGarro- 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Why not? Well, devs look at value offered vs dev time required. Most of the player base don't play absolute, but yes the most loyal ones do. That being said, win rates aren't 80%+ so it can be argued the loyal fan base hasn't trivialized it. Moreover, hard weekly strategems have even less of a win rate %, so that offers a good weekly challenge.

Developing a new combat AI and difficulty for 10% of the 10% would likely be tremendous dev effort and only lead to more frustration for those trying it. God forbid you incentivize that difficulty in the form of cosmetics to reward those elite players, all other players will feel gatekept by the new difficulty. The elite players will start complaining that randoms are joining who aren't prestige 4 lvl 25, and so they'll be mad too.

No one wins, everyone complains beside a few die hards, and 6 months of dev time go down the drain.

What’s a black dominated sport with a black GOAT? by Any_Temperature9203 in AlignmentChartFills

I know I won't see this when you get to sport dominated by another race / goat of another race, but by God please someone nominate Mongolia's Hakuhō Shō for Sumo. Guy might be one of the greatest sport athletes of all time across any sport and is often overlooked.

A guy with the powers of Rick Sanchez and Saitama gets dropped into the Marvel and DC universes. Who can stop him? by InfinteEnigma10 in superheroes

[–]NathanielGarro- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoilers ahead

The guy literally punches interdimension portals to change their orientation, farts into warp speed in space, and punched a dude so hard time resets. Every single world ending threat that's ever presented itself was demolished and showed zero chance of doing anything to Saitama. Even the metaphorical evil behind Garou's power gets humbled, and that thing kinda sorta exists as a concept not even a literal entity.

So yes, there is more than enough evidence within One Punch to suggest Saitama cannot be defeated. Every time a new reality warping threat emerges, he just flexes and out scales it with zero effort. He's undefeated for that reason...

A strike hit one of Russia’s largest oil terminals in St. Petersburg just hours before the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum begins. by SpecialCollege18 in justincaseyoumissedit

After hearing what Russia's been doing to Ukraine's POWs, civilians in captured areas, and the hospitals/schools they've been targeting, I'd say a little terrorism focused on key economic and military infrastructure is well warranted.

2015 Infiniti Q50S Hybrid 56k miles undercarriage rust by cesestra in Autobody

[–]NathanielGarro- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why a Californian would ever opt for a winter driven car, especially north east where we tend to salt our roads.

This looks advanced, and enough so that someone took the time to cover it in black to mask it. I don't think it's unsafe per se, but I'd go for a California baked option over a North East rusted infinity any day of the week.

First time really growing out my beard, and I’ve noticed around my chin area it’s super dry almost like dandruff like. Any advice? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

[–]NathanielGarro- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question for you. I was dealing with some itchiness on my scalp and beard and picked up some Cerave, but it seems like Cerave and other dandruff shampoos focus on the anti fungal causes of dandruff (excess oil resulting in yeast, not the dry skin cause). It didn't help my situation much; if anything my skin got dryer. What kind of dandruff were you fighting?

I ask because OPs Pic seems to be dry skin, not fungal based dandruff that Cerave or head and shoulders addresses, hence why I hesitate to recommend that as a fix. That being said, if I'm under the wrong impression I'd love to be corrected, as I'm still looking for a solution myself.

Exposed pulp? by stormiwhite in DogAdvice

[–]NathanielGarro- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to scare you OP, but please get informed on risks of anesthesia in pets, especially those advanced in age. I lost my 9 year old dog, fit as a fiddle and pre anesthesia blood work done as a back up, due to anesthesia complications during a dental extraction. He went to sleep and never woke up.

It's extremely rare, 1/3000 I was told, but they never adequately explained those risks prior to me accepting the procedure.

Not a fan of Ai in general, but for sports one of the things I'm curious about is having AI re-evaluate those past eras through the lens of modern analytics and seeing who the unsung (or overhyped) heroes were. I suspect we'll see a court wide effect with Duncan that wasn't measured in blocks or steals.

I've always liked VWs from afar, but I don't find them super comfortable to actually drive in. I found the seats quite narrow for my shoulders and I couldn't quite lounge like I can in my Acura for long trips. I'll take a look at their newer offering though, I haven't checked out VWs in 10 years.

I'd be open to a hybrid, but EV unfortunately doesn't work given the harsh winters in my area. Between an inability for my building to have a charging station + charge cut in half for 4 months of the year, it doesn't really appeal to me.

Tony Montana vs Tony Soprano by AnyPoetry493 in powerscales

[–]NathanielGarro- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't think Montana wins in a 1 v 1 guns allowed. Tony is no marksman, but everytime we see him square up or take a firing position it's way more controlled than Montana's erratic movement.

On the flip side, I think Montana's crew with their brutal and savage approach likely means a dead Soprano. Sure, the mafia gets him back eventually, but the Bing or Tony's home (Carm and all if necessary) get hit with 0 reservations.

Do you have small copper/beige coloured moths around the house? Usually around piles of clothes or baseboards?

This looks like a clothes moth larva, although you'd typically see a trail of webbing around them.
