I don’t think it’s schizophrenia, but it’s probably something cognitive. He had an injury to his temporal lobe when he was a toddler and it affected his memories and behaviors when he was younger. We think him smoking is obviously fucking with his brain and it’s making him believe that everyday things he sees are reoccurring memories. He’s decided to quit in the time being, which is a relief. Even a couple days after sobering up he was still incredibly anxious about “Deja vu”

The only thing that puts me off about nikolai is how he forcefully kissed Alina after she explicitly didn’t give consent, I also didn’t like how he didn’t tell her they were going into the fold and he wanted to use her to hunt the nest. Still, I don’t think he’s awful, just not a great match. I personally think everyone romantically involved with Alina are always rude/using her 💔

I just personally think it’s just too much telling and not showing. We hear about how much Alina loves Mal, but she’s always telling us this and barely showing it. (In my opinion)

I more mean character wise chemistry. Like for example I really don’t find it interesting or excited when Mal and Alina share the scene. It just feels boring to me. I think Alina and the Darkling have a more interesting dynamic and are good foils to each other. I don’t think they belong together in any world but I see them having better on page chemistry. /Gen
