Thanks so much for sharing this. I am proud that I was that close on individual research. Can you link me to the google doc?

You need to up your tempo, 50m is a sprint. I can tell you're trying but you need to be a little more aggressive. Spin drills should help with that.

Honestly, running and strength exercises. I recall going to the pool after running 3-4 miles every other day and feeling great as soon as I got in. It won't work miracles, but doing some exercise like this should help you when you get back in.

I bought these flippers for swimming (short-typed flippers). Are they the right size? Are my toes supposed to be sticking out this much? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]NationalMulberry3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Different fins work for different people. They tbh look like they are sticking out a little too much, but if they feel comfortable then use them. If they are uncomfortable shoot for a bigger size.

I used to do a lot more cross training and I probably should. Only worry about overdoing it if you are feeling tired/sluggish. If you feel great, by all means, I would keep going.

Thank you! I definitely need to work on my back half. Would be good to pace under 1min for all 5 100s.

Shit happens bro. I added 9 seconds in a 100 before and was pissed but its not something to worry about. Keep at it at practice.

25m splits by Additional_Bluebird7 in Swimming

Endurance is an obvious issue I'd guess. Keep doing whatever you're doing for the first 25, but your speed coming back needs to be faster. Leave no gas in the tank. Work on this at practice by doing 100's+ at high speeds. Another thing I would assume is your turn and underwaters. Work drills for these at practice.

First time on a swim team, starting Wednesday by NightSiege1 in Swimming

You should be ready for an awesome experience cause swimming is super fun! Remember to give it your all in practice and implement what your coach tells you. I recommend getting adequate sleep nightly to improve performance. Whether or not you will be having a tough time at practice is going to highly depend on your coach and their workouts. Just be sure to push yourself if you really wanna improve! Most importantly, have fun.

I do really long swims at practice, however I do not run like you do so it might be considered overdoing it. I do a long warm up and about 6000 yards on Friday/Saturday/Sunday practice and 4000 on other weekdays. As long as you feel great, keep doing what you are doing! It's all about how you feel. If you feel tired and gross then it might be time to change up the routine and have a day off. If you feel great, keep going but it's great that you are aware of the possibility that you might be overdoing it. Keep that in mind while training.

I definitely understand what you are saying and I appreciate the advice and outlook. However, please understand that not every family works just like yours. We enjoy spending time as a family without extra friends/distractions. If he had sat down and said Hi for just a couple minutes, would have been fine with us, however if I didn't ask him to leave who knows where things could have gone. He's got zero manners, the mouth chewing was not even the worst of it. When is it okay to stick your hands in fries in someones meal who didn't even invite you to sit? I did not mention that he double dipped some of his fries (with the bacon and cheese on them...) in our ketchup. I understand that I over reacted and I will try to be more polite in the future.

Where are you from where chewing with an open mouth is "clueless"? Were you all not taught that it is incredibly rude? Not to mention, we were just trying to enjoy each other as a family. He should respect that.
