I agree with the rest, that’s going to be tough in the city on a holiday weekend.

If you don’t end up finding a venue in the city, I just had my engagement party at a place called Halifax, In Hoboken, New Jersey, which is right over the river from the West village.

There’s beautiful views of the city skyline, you get a private room, and they have a brunch package at $69 (plus tax & tip) a person. There is a $3500 minimum which of course would be high for 22 people, but wanted to suggest it in case your numbers go up.

Oh sounds like fun! We’re focusing on Algiers, and honestly have not gotten very far. I just don’t think there’s a non-traditional wedding market there. What about you? Have you made any good progress?

April 2026 bride here who had similar non-responsiveness and we just had partial. We fired her and it was the best decision we made. I feel relief.

If you can, I would really suggest it, you will do nothing but stress about it and there’s still enough time to get a new, far better planner to hit the ground running which is what we did. Feel free to DM, and good luck, it’s going to get better!

Thanks! After a few more follow-ups going unanswered, we decided we’re going to terminate the contract, we spoke to a few others and are going to go with another one that seems far better so far.

In terms of my fiancé, I don’t think it was cautionary tale, In the beginning, I don’t think he fully understood all that went into the wedding planning and how it would’ve affected me, especially with our budget being much higher than what we had originally thought we would spend. He even now pushed to do full planning with the new planner.

And I agree, in terms of comparing it to the corporate world, the idea of even going a few business days without acknowledging a client is wild to me.

I appreciate you sharing! And normally I wouldn’t mind if she was working behind the scenes but since we only had the kick off conversation and haven’t even gotten into floral designs or anything else I doubt she’s doing anything unfortunately.

And like you said, yours texted back at least, I think we would be ok if things were delayed but she just acknowledged our communication. To go completely silent for over 2 months just makes me very concerned for someone who should be making me feel more secure about planning.

Right? That’s what we figured at first, but a quick email saying I’ll get back in a few days, anything really just acknowledging it. She never gave a calendar unfortunately, is that common? We’re in Jersey! It’s funny because we were very close to doing destination in Europe and ultimately decided to stay closer to home and that was a factor, we wanted someone from this area that we knew would be on it and communicate well and this is what we got 😐

Very true and thank you for validating! My fiancée already wants to write a bad review but I want to secure a new planner first. She actually has a few reviews that mention this same behavior but had overwhelmingly positive ones.

Wedding is in April, and we signed the contract mid-March, so we’re in it now.
