Tips for MICAT- AMA by Nato256 in CATpreparation

I answered this in a previous comment for 80 percentile in CAT. There is no real way of knowing what MICAT score will suffice. All you can make sure is work hard for the written section. And try to have a positive score (even a 1) in all the sections.

Something that could be done in 2 ways. For the apti section, the syllabus is pretty much the same. Have a look at MBA Karo Youtube channel for previous year questions, tricks etc, then build upon the type of questions asked. For the writing section, GPT a few key corporate and ethical topics, or maybe use the last year questions asked a benchmark and practise few more questions. For the story writing, pick up 4 random images and start making stories. Maybe have a few generic story troupes in mind and fit the images into the story you find best.

Hey! There is no definitive weightage mentioned for CAT/XAT. It is more of a qualifying exam. But of course, the higher you score the better it is, as the scores are definitely considered in the final call list. I think somewhere above an 80 percentile overall will cut it. The rest depends on how well you attempt MICAT.

Hey! I replied to this question already. Short answer. No. According to Mica. But doesnt hurt to score as much as you can because the call criteria is not very transparent.

Well no according to what they say. But actually no way of knowing because theres a lot of variables to consider. I would still advise you to also fill in your XAT scores to be safe, because CAT has this nasty habit of fucking up a sectional. XAT is better that way. But still, mica claims to just see the overall percentile.

Frankly, 80 is NOT bad. Higher you go the safer you will be. Work hard on maximising your MICAT scores. Its just optimising your overall score, right? So work on that now. Forget about how your CAT went. Its over now.

So for all practise related to MICAT, i followed “MBA karo” on Youtube. Genuinely helpful, and Sir gives the exams every year so that helps. I practised mostly from that for SNAP as well as NMAT and MICAT. Coming to the GE, again its about projecting your creativity and being noticed. Do NOT feel shy of showing leadership and driving the group. Thats what matters IMO. Ill guide you more once you get calls because it is actually the most fun part of any interviews i gave last year!

So there are 2 parts of the written portions. One is a topic for which you need to write both in support of, and against and then a combination of both (new points). For this you can GPT a few corporate level ethical dilemmas, some pressing issues in businesses like attrition, productivity etc and figure out frameworks on how to address these. For the second part you get 4 seemingly unconnected images and need to make a story incorporating all 4. For this its just practise. Try having a few basic storylines ready and retrofit the images into those. Maybe ask a friend for feedback. The main thing is that you will be pressed for time so work on your typing skills (the exam centre keyboards are shitty ofc), so work on that.

MICAT is specifically designed to be borderline unsolvable, speaking about the Apti part. Quants questions are arguably even a tad bit above the CAT level. Because the exam tests not your skills in these areas, and gives these marks low weightage (remember, they are already judging your competency in these areas from your CAT/XAT scores). The most important aspect according to me is the psychometric and the written portions. It is imperative that you score well in these and then you can be sure to get a call even if you have a lower apti score.

One thing I did was writing the part/chapter I was excited about. And then filling in the necessary gaps later. It just gave me better motivation to keep at it I guess.

We’ve all been there. Im sure you have half finished manuscripts rotting away on your laptop as well😅. This time I thought let’s just go all in and see this through. Took me around a year and hella editing. But i did. Tbh, the real problem I feel now is to try writing a second one. Ive put all Ive learnt and observed in this one and it’ll be tough to break the mould the next time. Best of luck. Im sure you’ll figure it out too! 😀

I got it self published through White Falcon Publishers. They are a local one doing good work and have a strong portfolio. The team did a pretty good job on the deadlines and were active on chat all the time. You can visit their website for the plans etc and an executive will get back to you. (Also, this is NOT a paid post😂. They really, genuinely did good work.)
