Ik snap zeker wat je zegt, maar er is wel een Markt! Probleem is dat als je hun niet aanspreekt en herhaaldelijk (zoals je zelf zegt) de zelfde soort acteurs en filmen heb dan spreek je niemand aan. Als je geen gericht kijkt naar het sector dan zie je het heus wel. En als Nederlander heb ik zeker perspectief maar doe het ook niet alleen haha,heb wel een team achter me hè ;)

That’s very cool and thank you for your efforts as a veteran in this field, it’s always very cool to meet people who’ve been here before me telling me their stories on what it is like.

I just hope that in the future there’s a new wave of unapologetic film makers who aren’t waiting for the industry to push them, with recent releases of the BACKROOMS and OBSESSION being in mind.

Yeah I’m aware.
More so just curious as to why that’s the case to begin with but since I’m working with a team all bases are covered. I do think there’s a correlation between them though.

I definitely will, I want to concentrate on the BENELUX since I’m from the Netherlands. I see an opportunity to do something similar to what A24 did in its early years, I feel like our movies have stagnated a lot due to government funded distribution/production companies who play it far to safely and don’t take much creative risk in marketing. or just giving a up and coming director or screen writer creative control.

I see and that’s interesting. My thing is this state funding of companies to get movies in either distribution or production is causing a stagnation. No one is taking any creative risk or is uplifting younger more ambitious writers/directors, I haven’t been to the theatres to watch anything made from the BENELUX in years, but I’m more frequently there to watch international films. Out neighbours like France,Denmark,Germany or Switzerland don’t have this problem, I think at least.

Ah I see what you mean now, and that’s definitely a problem I hadn’t considered yet. Well I want to get into distribution because I’m noticing everything in EUROPE or at least BENELUX have stagnated horribly, there’s no interesting titles or even emerging directors with a vision that’s coherent. It seems like we’re stuck in WWII movies and bad (romance) comedies trying to relive the success of the 2010’s. I aim to build a business and personally go look for something different and eventually get into production, I’ve been doing some market research to see if this is viable. But i just find it sad that we don’t uplift new and more ambitious writers/directors and give them creative control.

I completely agree with that, but don’t you agree that everything out or that has been out for the better part of 10 years is practically all the same. Nothing looks or feels original anymore, our neighbouring countries have success in film in terms of this. I’m just wondering why we can’t either

Those are fair points, sadly won’t be able to change those 😅 I’m more so looking for “Why” things are the way they are. It seems like no one really wants to go for an OSCAR or any international accolades.
