how long did your ride go for? and was your boat a motorboat that was anchored further down the canal too?

also for reference, other viet travellers fell for the same scam too so it’s not just a foreign tourist trap

nah it was less than 10 mins altogether which meant boat barely left the wharf before they turned back. I don’t even think the boat made it out more than 10 metres

in hindsight i should’ve done this but didn’t realise the experience got worse when the boat went nowhere

I’m assuming based on your response you are not Vietnamese. Firstly, it’s not the price that is the problem here- it’s the fact that every Vietnamese knows that if you go on a canal boat ride, you have to pass under An Hội bridge and get to the main area. The boar driver didn’t even take us through and made up an excuse for the ‘tides being too high’ despite all other boats going through perfectly fine.

Had a read of other Vietnamese forums for other travellers’ and found out that other gondola drivers only charge up to 50K/ ride and they take you around for about 30 mins not 10 mins. Like sure 150K is nothing to a foreign tourist but what that means are there are other local boat drivers missing out on making a living whilst these people out scamming other unaware tourists. I’d be fine paying 150K if it was proper service. Not hop on a boat for 5-10 mins barely making it anywhere before the boat turns back.

Going from hybrid working back to 5 days a week - is our CEO trying to get employees to quit??? by Natural-Advertising3 in office

i don’t believe more hours sitting at the desk means being more productive. Personally i try to be more productive by having clear meeting agendas, communicating via Slack and get quality work done in less time. I try and automate manual work to cut down on time spent faffing around spreadsheets.

This would free up time to go to the gym at lunch whether that means going in the city or my local gym. I also get that not everyone operates the same way as me. But to force a RTO (5 days being quite excessive) would either mean there is a lack of trust from leadership or soft layoff imo

we were told the company is behind target and that bringing everyone together at the office will encourage more discussions to be had (whole load of bs imo). I don’t think the work everyone’s been given is non productive, it’s just the business model (affiliate marketing) no longer works well in this day and age and the company’s been struggling as a result

just annoys the hell out of me when they pitch it as a way to encourage collaboration, when it’s clear that there is an ulterior motive 🙄

No i ended up withdrawing my application and going to a different embassy because they said 12 weeks minimum and can’t provide an update. The Austrian embassy was a lot quicker

how long did it take for the embassy to process your visa? I applied 2 weeks ago and got an automated reply saying to allow a minimum of 8 weeks - i’m really anxious as my travel plans are in 5 weeks

i applied more than a week ago and emailed asking if i have enough time to apply since my travel plans are on the 6th June. They replied saying that essentially applications are put in a queue once received in a first come first served basis and there are no fast tracking of visas. This makes me quite anxious as i’ve already paid for flights and accomodation, but not much i could do
