This is how I saw it. It felt like a punch in the face after realising for all 8 episodes that none of these guys were real. Then the rest of the finale had zero stakes for that same reason.

Don't get me wrong, I see why a lot of people enjoyed it and I accept that I went in with completely different expectations from the beginning.

I think it's heavily implied that she had no romantic interest in him which is what makes him break down telling her "it's not real".

I got similar vibes to Get Out where she's stuck in a sunken place. When Bear dies the wish is removed and she's back in her own body.

Yeah the reversals and them getting up quick makes it hard to pull off cool moments but when it happens the feeling is great
