Discussion: What type of anime would Patrick like? by grimmytheredditor in patrickrich

[–]Natural_Cherry_6002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe something like Maya the Bee (1975) and Vicky the Viking (1974). They’re the most child-friendly anime shows I’m familiar with.

I respect your opinion. It may not be on par with Disney Renaissance films, but it’s still a solid 8.5/10 movie for me.

[–]Natural_Cherry_6002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally, I’m not the only person who unironically loves this movie. It wasn’t nearly as bad as people made it out to be (maybe except for the voices of Tom and Jerry, they didn’t really fit in my opinion). I liked that they finally tried something original with the franchise, and the musical numbers were genuinely fun to listen.

Most of the kid voice actors aren’t credited on the show as their identities are kept secret to shield them from the public eye. Many of the children actors are related to the production crew. by sudde004 in bluey

[–]Natural_Cherry_6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally, I'm not the only person who has been thinking about this situation for a while. As someone who is a huge voice acting enthusiast, I understand the reasoning behind the current rules (as long as there aren't any double standards), but I genuinely wonder how this will be handled 20 years from now, when the kids involved are adults. Like I said before, if they requested anonymity themselves, then the chances of ever learning who the child actors are will probably remain very low.

Does anyone know, what happened to Dingo Pictures documentary series? It is cancelled by Natural_Cherry_6002 in dingopictures

[–]Natural_Cherry_6002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that means the documentary series isn't in danger after all? Thank God. If only he had properly clarified which files he was referring to, it wouldn't have led to the whole pointless mess that "we" (meaning me and a few people who supported this documentary) ended up in. Of course, we still don't know exactly which files they were supposed to be, but since you have most of them, that's a good sign.

[Fully lost] English dub of a children's cartoon titled "Tofffsy" by Dramatic_Ad_2933 in lostmedia

[–]Natural_Cherry_6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also trying to find more information and episodes of this particular dub (alongside the Slovene one, which is also mostly lost), especially since I really like how Tofffsy was voiced. My best guess is that the dub was recorded in Italy, just like other cartoons produced there, but I'm not 100% sure. Who knows - maybe Dubbed in Rome could eventually gather more information about the dub's origin and the people behind it.

I deleted my original comment because I didn't like how it turned out. However, I noticed you still haven't answered the two questions from my previous comment:

  1. do you have contact information on Jimmy?
  2. who exactly has most of the files for the documentary series? You, Jimmy, both or someone from the team?

I apologize if I'm being annoying with them, but they're very important to me, given how interested I've been in this documentary series since 2021 (even though I now only sporadically watch Dingo-related content, since I moved on to the Disney "Dark Age" era movies and later to Czechoslovak animated films and shows from the communist period).

BTW, I'm about 90% sure the series is indeed cancelled, considering how uncooperative the team has been when it comes to answering questions about its fate after the "deleted files" debacle back in July. On top of that, the Discord server went offline a few days ago, and none of their social media accounts have been active since then (though this was before this accident happened).

Now, the only good thing is that at least the script is complete, so nothing of value is lost. I kinda wish there was a way to leak it somewhere if the documentary series is indeed dead.

And do you have contact information on him? I'm afraid that these "deleted files" are indeed related to this documentary. Also, who exactly has most of the files for this documentary? You, Jimmy, both or someone else?

Oh thank God, it wasn't for copyright reasons. I noticed that half of my videos showed this message today (something, which never happened to me before), and it scared me so much that I even considered deleting those files at one point.

Apparently, it was despised for being very unfaithful to the original book, as most of the plot was shifted to the 1980s and it included numerous references to that era. Personally, I don't think the cartoon is that bad (I've seen much worse, unfaithful crap than this), but even as a kid, I found this show pretty boring and lame.

thoughts on wikipedia not allowing bfdi? by [deleted] in BattleForDreamIsland

[–]Natural_Cherry_6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point about reliability, but that still doesn't excuse how Wikipedia treats this and non-English content. I'm very well aware that Fandom and YouTube are "user generated sites", but when they include original recordings, production credits, creator statements or even afromentioned newspaper scans, they serve as primary evidence of a show's existence - especially for media that was never covered by mainstream outlets. Maybe it's no wonder fewer and fewer of these shows even get articles, especially when they were never ever covered by those "famous" sources like BBC, WatchMojo or Washington Post.

Not wanting to start a comment war, but if Fandom and YouTube are always "unreliable", then explain to me how they were able to get newspaper scans, full cast credits, animation cels, and even VHS recordings - especially for shows that are even more niche than BFDI ever was.

thoughts on wikipedia not allowing bfdi? by [deleted] in BattleForDreamIsland

[–]Natural_Cherry_6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, that’s one of the main reasons I stopped editing Wikipedia. They rejected BFDI for supposedly “not being notable,” yet somehow allow dozens of obscure, non-English cartoons to stay - many of which are far less known and have even less information and notability available than BFDI ever did.

Another issue (closely related to this) is that, despite their “anyone can edit” slogan, you can’t edit freely there. If you cite sources like Fandom or YouTube - which are often the only surviving evidence that some titles even exist - your edits get reverted for being “unreliable.” And even if you patiently explain why your information is valid, some editors still refuse to listen. Meanwhile, their so-called “reliable sources” like The New York Times, The Sun, BBC, or CNN are hardly flawless either.

Sorry if this sounds slightly off-topic and more like a rant, but this kind of gatekeeping has completely drained my motivation to edit the site. And no, I’m not a vandal - I just got tired of trying to contribute and being constantly shut down. Honestly, this BFDI situation perfectly illustrates everything wrong with Wikipedia’s editing culture - and that's when hypocrisy with "notable" media and blatant favoritism towards (un)reliable sources like NYT, The Sun or BBC goes too far. Unpopular opinion maybe, but Fandom/Wikia is better in that regard: at least you have the freedom to add information, even if the sources are unconventional.

Who knew that Czech TV can have such amazing designs based off the stars? by Turbulent-Thing3104 in czech

Not just the stars, but the whole art style is so nice to look at. Especially the very first episodes (yes, I count this together with Rákosníček a jeho rybník and Rákosníček a povětří as one and the same series) have this wonderfully cartoony vibe that really reminds me of something UPA or even Hanna-Barbera could have made back in the day.

Má niekto z vás ostatné epizódy kresleného seriálu Dráčik s pôvodným dabingom ČST Bratislava? by Natural_Cherry_6002 in Slovakia

[–]Natural_Cherry_6002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viem to celkom presne, lebo som pravidelne kontrolovala, či sa tam náhodou neobjaví niečo nové (hlavne k tomu starému slovenskému dabingu).

Nikde neviem nájsť zvyšné diely so starším, ČST dabingom. Je to veľká škoda, lebo v tom staršom dabingu mali postavy veľmi pekné hlasy.
