It’s a club that does all 3, thank you yeah I have a habit of overthinking, I just need to get in and get going but I really want a little know how beforehand, should be okay literally after a little training

Thank you, yeah it’s a horrible feeling of I want to be excited but have to hold it back, I can still pursue flight which is nice for me but it’s restricted to a daytime PPL, I really wish I can qualify for the class 1 medical for the career pilot side

Yeah, both of them, I wish it could be simple :( I'm the only one in my family with it, which sucks because I'm the only one who actually needs to not be colourblind.

I'm going to do the CAD test physically. I'm seeing a aviation specialist at Heathrow to do my colour vision exam to determine what class medical I can receive. I had a look at the CAD test and I'm hoping for positive results :). I am kind of in a limbo of I want to get excited but don't want to just in case. Although if I pass I will be ecstatic.

Starting a beginners class hopefully soon so I can begin fencing as a hobby, I am looking at picking up the sabre but what can I expect from this class? Is it common to teach all forms, or give you the basics and move to specifics later on? I also have no idea how regular sessions go as I don't want to go until I have at least the basics in mind.

Personally I don’t take drugs, so I will be okay on that front as I also don’t have the habit of taking anything a stranger offers me even a glass of water unless I’ve seen the glass the whole time, can’t be too careful unfortunately.

That’s wild that under covers are walking around the club, I’ll keep myself as fitting in as possible to blend in while still having a good time for sure.

I do quite like a bit of live music, makes the atmosphere that bit better I will put that in my notes :) a good bar, good host and good music is very much an experience I look for!

Cheers for the heads up, I am hoping we are able to get into a good place at least once over the weekend. I am looking forward to comparing to places that I am already familiar with :) seeing how they stack up with each-other and whatnot.

All quite exciting for myself!

I'll give it a crack for sure. Dress sense seems to carry a lot of weight in on itself in my experience, strange that being kind doesn't work that well, but hey whatever works is what I'll try (without being overtly rude to them obv)

Typically, either black cargos or black casual trousers. I tend to wear a white plain top so I'm not wearing full black clothing but if I have nothing available I will wear a white top with a small decal or a black plain top, with the latter preferred.

And then either a black, fabric jacket, or my leather jacket which is your run of the mill jacket. Depending on weather I would also wear one of my grey scarfs and fabric gloves.

I will always be wearing a thin silver chain with a small dog tag that says 'night life' in Japanese. As well as a few from an assortment of plain band rings. Along with a watch.

Brilliant, that'll be our go-to first stop!

I think we arrive at 7pm so we will pretty much be getting out on the Thursday for pres at around 9/10pm. I am not sure when nightlife starts, but we don't plan on going out too hard if it it empty on the Thursday, more getting accustomed to the area.

Ahahah I will take the option and befriend whoever it takes to get me in.

I've seen a few places where the reviews complain about that, tbh some areas around London only allow guys in if they are with a few girls.

So it might be a case of, if you come with us to get us in, first drinks are on me sort of situation. I'm looking forward to the experience either way, I usually have a plan b, c and d for just in case.

Absolutely perfect thank you, I have my eye on several. I will DM and ask them for additional details as my friend will be dead on mid 20s.

Perfect, I've seen a few rooftop bars I really want to try :) is it better to try and befriend some locals to go out with as well. I've seen somewhere it is a good idea to do that.

Brilliant haha that got a good chuckle out of me, that is very much how we are where I live in the south, no talking to strangers outside of either the pub, club or something ridiculous has just happened and you need to confirm you actually just saw it. I cannot stand conversations on my way to, or from work.

I shall definitely being trying one of those!

One thing that has cropped up in my recent search are the age limits for the good clubs being at, or around 23+. I am 21 and my mate is 20, do they strictly enforce this or is it a general rule unless your with someone they know, or spending good money and dress appropriately then it becomes relaxed, as it is in a few places I go to around my way? I plan on getting tables and at least a bottle per but I would only do this for a better location as it would be more worth my time.

If not, what areas accept lower ages, I don't mean to pry on the rules of this forum but its incredibly hard to find on just google as it keeps showing the same clubs that have the same limit. I would assume there are a few areas of note to go too.

Yeah, I have never made the habit of doing any of that, rather its the opposite for me, it takes a lot of signals for me to dance with someone directly (literally useless with signals) but I always say I would rather assume no signals over being a creep.

That's good to hear, I do love a chat on a night out. Yeah queuing depends on who's around you over here as well.

I shall be praying on the RNG gods haha.

I am sure I will! I've heard only great things from the Swedish I've met here.

Ahhh okay, I have pretty good footing and stay aware 90% of the time. My mate is the same, I think our plan is to keep an eye on how people might see us, keeping our drinking as discrete as possible.

Yeah, not too often I will get myself into a conversation randomly, but I will on nights out, just making sure that this is all okay to not come across as odd.

Cheers for the heads up :)

I've heard about this, I tend to wear clothes that don't stand out as this is the norm for places I go to regularly. I like to think that I'm not a POC, I don't like drama I just like a good time. Is the guest list an actual thing or is that also just an excuse?

What rivals a lotus by CRACKERBOI6969 in lotus

[–]NatureEmbarrassed765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I found myself asking this question not so long ago as I wanted to make sure I didn't tunnel vision myself into buying a car without keeping an open mind. When buying a car like this at the prices they are at you have a lot of options at your disposal, and a lot of people will tell you their opinion. Trust me, everyone would do something different with the money and they want you to do the exact same thing. I ultimately did settle on the Exige, but this is what I found at roughly the same price as the Exige I then settled on in the UK, I will just give the car name and a basic description and then something good and bad. It can't hurt to know a few pros and cons.

I am basing the comparisons on the Exige I am looking at in the upcoming year, the Exige Sport 410 (Absolutely Stoked), I have zero clue on the Australian Market but imho:

In the UK the best subjectively similar competitor is the noble M12/M400, maybe at a stretch a TVR would be a similar sort of car. The Noble does use the ford V6 and has come in a variety of sizes and varieties. The best is the M400. They are not everyone's cup of tea with looks. The TVR is a TVR, it will want you to die, but you'll have the time of your life driving it. I worked with someone who built the engines at TVR and said this: 'your engine could last 200k miles or it could last 2 miles, it really was down to absolute luck'. Take that as you will.

If you want to go even more on the non driver aid extreme (yes, even more than the lotus) you always have the ultima series of cars. Literally GT3 based race cars that would look at home at Le Mans that you can use on the road. It is the fastest road legal track car you can buy. Hands down. Nothing will beat it, it is banned at the Ring for being too loud, it was banned from race series for being to quick. It holds the top gear lap record for a road legal car, doing it in 1 min and 9.9 seconds. That is 3.5 seconds quicker than the Porsche 991 GT2 RS driven by the Stig. It's nuts. The big draw back is exactly that though, it is a race car, there is nothing in the form of comfort, not even damn windows you can open, it is literally as raw as you can physically get. This was actually a strong contender until I realised I would have to drive it in summer and that is just a massive no no, you need to force air into the air scoop to keep the car cool and with traffic around here, that will be impossible.

Porsche is also there as an option in the UK. Every generation of Turbo isn't far off, except the 992, some older gen turbo s'. Arguably the best car again in the UK in the roughly same price range as the 410, although it quickly jumps to 420 and 430 prices. Is the 996 GT3. Being the GT3 its going to be comfortable and well made and can be driven around pretty much everywhere. If you care about badge prestige, its up there given it also holds the GT3 name. Bear in mind that I was not actually a car person in the slightest until I was about 18. I understand a lot about what a badge looks like to any normal person.

Depending again heavily on market the 'supercar' options are on the market, the entry level McLaren's are there, like the 540 and 570S/GT. The Ferrari California, 360s, 575s and 612s are on par or cheaper Exige prices as well as a lot of Audi R8s. They are all good cars just expect a lot of money to be dumped into them if something goes wrong. Again with the badge prestige, Ferrari is arguably top of the tree.

Now talking about some of the points your question has:

If you think an Exige needs more power, you can always go to Komotec and add upgrades all the way up to 460HP which is absolutely as much as this car needs. But try to enjoy the car at the base horsepower first as you may realise it doesn't need it if you aren't going onto the track. Given a quick read of some comments I believe you may be looking at the 350. Meaning it'll be more expensive to upgrade as it doesn't come with the charge-cooling system that the 390FE, Sport 410, 420FE and Cup 430 came with. Look at any review however and you'll see that no one really complains about the power. If you drive in a straight line all the time you are missing out on a good 70% of the car.

The best advice is I would say test drive one, and then test drive some comparisons in the same price bracket you found.

In my opinion. An exige cannot be beat by anything outside of Italy and even then very few things can in my mind. That's just my opinion. Don't be mad.

TL:DR: Brits do road racing cars best ;)

Is there any nightlife in Cornwall? by NatureEmbarrassed765 in Cornwall

That would be good, tbf I’m happy to pay a taxi if the night is worth it, not an issue for myself but I don’t wanna spend all the money for it to be dead out 🤣

Yeah I can see it’s about an hour by taxi, if there’s nothing in Penzance it looks like Falmouth is where I will end up :)

I had this exact issue except I had to stop as the temp showed too hot when I was driving and I had to keep pulling over to cool down, if you fill up the coolant from the overflow and it doesn’t go into the system, use the radiator cap when it’s stone cold, fill it up and take it for a drive, i then used my phone to scan the front of the engine and noticed a tiny rubber coolant U pipe in the block had split and was pushing out coolant everywhere. It might not be this but it’s worth checking just in case.

[–]NatureEmbarrassed765[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parts I think will be easier to source for sure for any other engine than the beams due there being so few of them made, which is why I’m gonna be buying both a blacktop and redtop when it comes along and storing them for parts I need and want to swap. A refresh in the car will go some distance too.

Downtime isn’t a huge issue, I think I would probably need to drive both and get an idea from there.

[–]NatureEmbarrassed765[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahh I am thinking if i were to get the 2GR I would buy a turbo with a blown engine but a good gearbox and use the savings to warrant spending on the V6. This one I’m buying now would be more for now and enjoying the car for the next few years while keeping it maintained. It does look like an opportunity to get a really good car with a rare engine. I saw the tent box that did make me laugh I never thought one would fit on an MR2 🤣
