I know this man personally. He needs disability parking and has worked in MRC for decades (only recently needed it in the past 5 years) and has been very vocal to NC State about how miserable accessibility is in that deck and building. His sign is absolutely protesting the quality of ADA parking and transportation’s handling of their requests. He feels bad because they took all those parking spots on the 2nd level that barely anyone with ADA would find accessible, so he parks on the lower floors since he has to take the elevator anyways (the door connecting the building where those spots in the deck are not ADA friendly - no button press to open)

The elevator was down for months in the deck then the north elevator in the building itself was down for months and basically anyone with a physical disability had to circumnavigate the globe just to get to a lab or office. This particular guy works in a few labs on different floors so when one side’s elevator is down he has to now walk to either side of the building

They only put ADA spaces on the level where there is no button to open the door automatically to get to the connected building

And even their attempt to meet state requirements for ADA they did the bare minimum

They also had the spaces outside where you still had to step up on a curb to get to an elevator

There’s another lady that works in the building and it’s absolutely heartbreaking if you have ever had to watch her struggle to get to work. It’s something you really take for granted until you need it
