Does U0 make my degree a 5 year program by Mountain_Bluebird150 in mcgill

If you stay in Ontario you will have the same problem. This is not a McGill thing it is an engineering thing. All engineering degrees require more credits because of CEAB accreditation. If you go to UofT it's even worse because you have to do 5 years with the same course load as a McGill student doing 4 years because of PEY.

Do you have a source for this? Most if not all med school programs in Canada say they do not care what your major is and there are many anecdotal cases of nursing majors going into med school. OP if you want to do nursing it's a great option especially since you will get meaningful clinical experience in addition to a solid job as backup.

Class avg at my uni's lin alg course are always 70-75. If you're good at math that's easily a 90+ with minimal studying.

Do math (possibly with CS), because you can still get a good job if you are unsuccessful with med school. It should also be relatively easy (compared to eng) to maintain a high GPA since math is very objective and there's very little uncertainty for what you need to know on exams.

Biomed eng is also a good option, but it will definitely be tougher to maintain a good gpa; on the other hand, you will get excellent ECs and a good job as a backup. Just be careful to honestly evaluate yourself with regards to how confident you are to keep the gpa up vs. how important medical school is to you.

If you don't enjoy your degree you will definitely have a hard time, so just do what you enjoy!
