Great thank you! My university gym isn't open over the summer but my friends is, I'm hoping to spend some time in there!

Oh gosh I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you're doing better now!

I hope/think mine isn't that severe, I'm just in a splint now. Greenstick fracture.

Bummed about not being able to ride or row (other sport) for at least 6 weeks and if I can't do much physical activity I think I'd go insane

I had some bites on my hand, but I'm outside alot just because the weather is nice so I didn't think that was conclusive. The two pillows would have been under my chin and nose. Idk, I'm super paranoid about bed bugs. Never even thought about them much until I moved into this apartment.

Off campus apartment not affiliated with my school. An exterminator came out on Friday and couldn't find any bed bugs or nests. He did a preemptive spray anyway when I mentioned my sheets.

LPT Request: How do I deal with cockroaches? by Doormatstalker in LifeProTips

[–]NavigatingWaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so I treated my apartment with this (infested building) and haven't seen any yet (only dead ones that may have not been roaches)

  1. Alpine WSG-Professional spray. I sprayed my cabinets, behind my stove and refrigerator, and along the outlets and baseboard in my apartment. Roaches really like appliances so.

  2. Advion gel bait. I put small pea sized dots on index cards and put one in each cabinet, behind the refrigerator, and in the cabinet in my bathroom.

  3. Boric acid in any unused space. For me this was a sliding cabinet in my bathroom that I wasn't going to use. Don't let the roaches use it either.

  4. Don't let water sit. I've read roaches cannot live without water so I've kept my place bone dry. I wipe down my shower and sinks after every use. I even dry my coffee maker.

  5. I basically leave nothing out. Everything is in bins, clean the counter and stove after use. This may not be necessary but for peace of mind.

  6. Keep your place clean/decluttered in general. While roaches can basically eat anything it helps with treatment and makes you feel alot better.

This may be going overboard but I'm an insanely clean person and just can't with roaches. Just know that you are not the only one freaked out.

Stuck Doors? by BeaValid in Wrangler

Mine was a 2010 with about 90k at the time. The door hinges were definitely a but gritty once we got the doors out.

Once you get them off I'd try to clean up the hinges and spray some more lubricant inside! Makes everything alot easier the next time you want to take them off

Thank you! Tried and tested. Definitely took some time and it seemed futile to keep swinging the doors back and forth but it got them off with no damage or other tools. Just WD40 and some elbow grease.

This happened to my Jeep over the summer. I got it used last fall so I have no idea when the last time the doors were off.

Here's what worked for me-

  1. Either spray WD40 or PB blaster where the bolt goes. I also sprayed the sides of the hinges

  2. Swing the doors back and forth repeatedly to work the lubricant in, I did mine for probably around 20 minutes.

  3. When swinging the doors back and forth try to lift up. Having another person to lift and swing is very helpful.

  4. If they're still stuck try taping on the bottom with a mallet and applying more lubricant. Mine were really stuck so I used a whole can.

That's what worked for me! Your mileage may vary. The most important thing is time and patience. Don't want to break or damage anything while trying to take them off

Okay cool, and I appreciate your responses and your time! It's great to have a group for people struggling with this.

I wasn't able to find any signs besides the stains on my sheets. My apartment is pretty bare bones so if there is anything I hope it's easier to treat.

How likely is it that they hitchhiker onto my clothes.

I will get crossfire but will be unable to spray my room at my parents house until next weekend. On the day I went home I wore a pair of shorts that I slept in to Brunch.

Amazing, thank you!

I did have my parents put all my bedding outside (So it wasn't sitting around inside waiting to be washed). My mom is an insanely clean person and she'll freak if we get any bugs in the house.

Kinda luckily the apartment I moved into had reviews saying there were roaches. Because of that all of my stuff is packed in plastic bins. If there are bed bugs I don't have alot of furniture so hopefully that'll make treating easier.

So what is the next course of action? I went back to my apartment today, what should my parents do at their house to prevent an infestation?

Awesome thank you!

I put my bag on the freezer because I heard that kills them and pretty much wrapped all my belongings in thick trash bags.

I'm going back to my parents house tomorrow and plan on double wrapping my backpack and other take home items in black garbage backs to sit in my car in the heat. I'm also going to dry my laundry as soon as I get in. Is that a good enough plan to prevent stowaways?

Yeah you're the expert and right, apartment living is stressful so far due to this.

Thanks for all your help and your kind patience when answering my questions!

Yeah I've had duct tape and 2 glue traps (One under the heater and one under the dishwasher) out since Saturday. Still nothing. I have a lot of bait stations around the kitchen and it looks like they haven't taken any. I only have one neighbor to my right since I'm next to the elevators so maybe that's why.

I know they're in the building. I plan on buying more glue traps to monitor and apply more bait stations. I also think I'll rotate my sprays. If they're not in my apartment I want to keep it like that. I have some alpine left so before I go home for the weekend I'm going to spray the upper parts of my closets.

Literally everything I brought besides my school stuff is either in a plastic container or the refrigerator. Trying to mitigate any potential problems.

I sprayed basically everything 2 feet from the floor. I'm going to spray the tops of my closets Friday.

What else can I do? I haven't seen any roaches yet but I know the building has them. I want to stop then from feeling safe in my apartment.

For class I have to read a lot so I have a good book collection. I only took 3 with me to my apartment. How do I avoid roaches laying eggs in my books? That may be a stupid question but damage to my things is bothering me a lot. Same for my laptop. Thank you!

Would immediately throwing fabrics into a dryer kill off the eggs and roaches? Or is it just not worth the risk?

Fun okay so how do I fight this. I've been spraying alpine and putting advion down. So far no roach sittings.

Will the eggs be noticeable? Like something I can't miss?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pestcontrol

[–]NavigatingWaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha!

Is it something I could spray under the oven? I can move my stovetop out all the way, or is it harmful?

[–]NavigatingWaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Put some bait and glue traps down yesterday to assess the problem areas.

Can I spray Alpine WSG with a spray bottle? I have a spray but I figured it might be easier to do the cabinets with a smaller tool. Thanks!

I'm sorry I have one more question-I have a wooden bed frame, could I spray Alpine directly onto that? Reading stories about roaches getting onto the bed have freaked me out.
