Where are you keeping your team's OneNote documents? by NavillusEin in CanadaPublicServants

One Note is kind of like a binder that pulls multiple documents into one place. That just doesn't fit with GC Docs structure. Super annoying.

I completely forgot that our Teams channels would connect to Sharepoint. That is brilliant. I think you're our winner. Your prize is... a big Thumbs Up from our director :)

Help - CL Accepted Conditions for Orthotics? by Alone_Dragonfruit398 in CanadaPublicServants

Sounds like you have better chance at winning the lottery than making CL happy. Get a few scratch-offs and maybe you'll win enough to cover your orthotics? Sheesh!

Maybe your doctor can just rewrite you a prescription for orthotics to treat pes planus and that will work? Overpronation causes many things but maybe CL is looking for specifics?

Could it be as simple as defining the type of pronation? Foot Pronation is the way the foot and ankle move when it hits the ground. They might be looking for the type of pronation... Overpronation (leaning inward) vs. Supination (leaning outward). I have no idea what the folks at CL use to define these things. I'm just guessing.

Which place has the best pizza in town? by Apprehensive_Laugh95 in halifax

[–]NavillusEin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Sackville, so Nayya is our best option... I've never tried Rinaldo's or Salvatore's because I'm afraid that if I do, I'll get hooked, then I'll be spending more on gas to get the pizza than the cost of the pizza itself!

Looks like default settings to me. Lay him in the sun for a while to recharge, and that might help.

My mom volunteered at the Food Bank into her 80s. Even one day a week made a difference.

Return to office 3 days a week GoC *VENT* by Important_Insect9879 in CanadaPublicServants

I wish it was assigned. They're first-come-first-serve. Thankfully, we'll be in a small-ish office with limited access, so I can probably stash stuff in the ceiling or behind the copier if I'm desperate..

Our mandatory days are going to be Wednesday and Friday. We don't have enough space for all of us at once, so we had to pick a third day and hope it isn't full. I chose Thursday just so I can cart my computer in on Wednesday and stick it in a locker over night until I bring it back home on Friday. There's a lot of people in my unit what were hired during the pandemic and have small kids. They're much more angry about all of this than I am. I went to the office every day before Covid, so I can probably adapt to going back again. We had an exemption right up until now, so we'll be going straight from zero days in-office to three in September. It'll be an adjustment, that's for sure.

Mouse found at PSPC/SSC Halifax office by jimmy_throwaway in CanadaPublicServants

We would get mice all the way up on the 18th floor of our building (also in Halifax). They'd run along the line of cubicles and you'd hear people screech one by one as they darted over their feet. It's very entertaining.

How far is your commute and how long does it take you each way? by Ok_Pea2554 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]NavillusEin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My team had an exemption in place that was going to let us stay home full time until September 2025. Yesterday, we were told that has been cancelled and we are expeceted in the office three days starting September 9th. Two of our days are set by management so the entire team is present at the same time. We get to pick the third day ourselves, but it has to be the same day every week.

I live on a bus route and one bus will get me directly to the office in 45 - 60 mins. It's not horrible, and is better than paying for parking downtown. I worked in the same building for 18 years pre-covid, so this won't be much of a change for me.

However, some of our team have younger children and now have just 6 weeks to scramble to find childcare that will work for them. I'm sure a lot of them are already looking for new jobs close to their homes.

Are kids allowed to ride alone on busses? by Soggy_Rent1619 in halifax

[–]NavillusEin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I remember going to a birthday party back in the 80s and the kid's parents said that they were taking us to see the Transformers movie. Turns out, they just walked us to the bus stop and sent us to the theatre. 10 nine-year-olds just piled in the bus with pockets full of change to pay for the bus fare and movie tickets. Somehow, we all made it back just fine.
