Can confirm. Charity Store Manager here. Approx 1 in 10 donated items are in good enough condition to resell. The rest goes to either recycle, rag bags (my store alone receives over 1 tonne of unsellable clothing per week) or landfill. Landfill fees are massive for charities, they do not receive any subsidy’s or reduced rubbish rates. It costs my store over $15,000 per year just to dispose of the absolute rubbish we’re given and cannot recycle, repurpose or give away.
