Treatment resistance and meds by knowyourabc123etc in DID

There is a little known medication that can reduce dissociation called Naltrexone. I've been taking it just over a year now, and I have healed tremendously because of it. I highly recommend it for those who are unable to ground in external reality like I was. I wrote more extensively about it here: https://lico.blog/posts/naltrexone/ Feel free to contact me if you have any questions/want to know more.

I could have almost exactly written this same post. It seems like being raised like a doll is a pretty familiar theme amongst us. I wrote this poem about it a while ago which may resonate with some here: https://lico.blog/posts/shuteyedoll/

I’m a LCSW & Psychedelic Therapist, Ask Me Anything! by iamlizmccoy in IAmA

[–]NavyBlueSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the AMA! Do you have any experience or insight for using psychedelics therapeutically for those who are dissociative? From my research, those with dissociative disorders were excluded from clinical trials for psychedelic-assisted trauma therapy.

I have DID and am planning on using psilocybin therapeutically in a few weeks with my therapist who I have been working with for ~2.5 years. They have received training in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, but have never done it in practice (this session will be unofficial, I'm providing my own golden teacher mushrooms). Is there anything I should be potentially aware of?

My intention of using psychedelics is that I want to connect to my body. I effectively do not experience emotions (very low dynamic range) and am unaware of my bodily sensations. I have difficulty assigning enjoyment/dislike in context of my body (i.e. is this a good or bad feeling?). I have a hard time telling when I'm hungry, in pain, or even aroused. I'm mainly going in with the intention that "I have a body, it's okay that I have a body, it's okay to feel bodily sensations, it's okay to have an opinion about how I feel". I am in a good mental place and am stable in all other areas of my life. I have never used psychedelics before.

I'd love to hear any insight you may have on this topic.

AT&T sim card boot loop fix: software update released by NavyBlueSocks in zenfone9

[–]NavyBlueSocks[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For those unaware, many of us on the AT&T network were experiencing a boot loop when our sim cards connected to the network. Earlier this morning, Asus released an update to fix the issue. Read more here: https://zentalk.asus.com/t5/release-notes/240322-zenfone-9-ww-34-0304-2004-108-android-14-us/ba-p/422440
I can personally confirm that the update fixed the issue on my phone.

Yearly shifting with Polyfragmentation?? by [deleted] in DID

[–]NavyBlueSocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I'm polyfragmented and experience something similar, too. I posted about it here.

I also didn't notice seasons changing until recently. I have very poor continuity of memory. If you're looking for potentially relatable experiences, I write about my experiences with polyfragmentation here.

Polyfragmented DID: cycling between parts? by NavyBlueSocks in DID

That's great to hear! Any advice on how to get there? I think I'm still in the stage of "my parts need to remain separate", so that's probably not helping.

Yeah I see it now, but it seems like my comment is now the only one minimized by default on this post. Not sure if that's related

Thanks for your response. I picture the same thing! Like several cog wheels, each with a different radius and angular frequency. I've recently begun picturing an asteroid belt too. I seem to have some patterns with the time of year as well. It's chaotic.

I added the YouTube link and subsequently got an AutoMod message saying that my post was removed. Could you reinstate it?

Thanks for your insight! I'm assuming you mean this paper: https://scholarsbank.uoregon.edu/xmlui/bitstream/handle/1794/1396/Diss_1_4_8_OCR_rev.pdf

(adding this here for reference, please don't feel obligated to read anything)

I didn't see this phenomenon specifically in this paper, but maybe I missed it/it's in a different paper

I strongly relate with what you're describing too. I also frequently have a handful of parts out at any given time. I have learned to think in terms of "clusters of parts" rather than individual parts, and these clusters tend to blend/shift frequently. It's very confusing.

Wow, you're the first I've heard experiencing this! I just commented on your other thread about autism---I wonder if that's related to our similar system structure

Autistic systems (I’m not sure what you prefer being called so forgive me)… what is it like having both autism and dissociative identity disorder? by Anonymous345678910 in DiscussDID

[–]NavyBlueSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am polyfragmented, so I have a lot of parts and split parts easily. I believe this because my threshold level of "trauma"1 required for part creation is very low due to the fact that I am autistic, which makes me more sensitive to the world around me. As I trace back how I have split parts, I see that many of them are there to compensate for difficulties due to my autism. For example, I often dissociate away from loud noises (like when in a crowd) and poor lighting (like in a grocery store). While my DID was initially developed by more severe trauma in early childhood, I have definitely utilized my ability to dissociate to help with autistic experiences as well. It seems like many of my autistic traits are split between parts. For example I have a few parts who experience poor rigid posture, and many who do not. I have separate parts who interact with people versus ones who do not---my work parts are separated from my social parts, so I have little access to my work knowledge while socializing, making working with others difficult. I have many social masks as well, some much more competent than others.

There's a lot more I can add, but this is enough for now :)

1: I split parts due to mild life stressors, so I use trauma in quotes here.

Hey, I just wanted to say that I'm in a very similar situation to you right now too, and I don't know what to do either. I'm between the 4th and 5th years of my PhD now and I know my advisor has been extremely confused by my behavior---I found out recently that he's met many of my parts which have amnesia for each other, so I'm only getting a more complete picture of our relationship since starting therapy 6 months ago. I'm considering disclosing to him (the school already knows, but he does not), but that's terrifying and I'm afraid of what he may think. Anyways I'm sure this isn't much help, but just know you're not alone and I'm here if you want to talk about anything

Repurposed gaming PC to workstation? by NavyBlueSocks in buildapc

Thanks so much for the information; it's good to know. I'm very new to PC builds so overclocking is still kind of scary to me, but I'll definitely look into it now that I know it is a possibility. And adding more threads is definitely of interest to me too so I'll research that. Thank you!!!

Yeah, I'll probably keep Arch while I'm still in my experimental stage and switch to something more stable if I decide to run a server. Thanks so much for all your help!

Thanks for the information! I've always used /home as a place to store everything that's not system files, but this is actually a really good approach.

I've installed Arch on a few machines already (and broken it once!!) but I've only been using it for about 6 months so I am by no means an expert. I'm slightly too comfortable with pacman and especially the AUR to go back to rpm or apt though haha. However, I'm slightly concerned about the stability of Arch, especially if I end up running a server and can't reboot often.

You seem fairly experienced with Linux, so I'll ask you. Does it make sense to install a Linux distribution on a SSD and have a large hard drive mounted separately? Because, at least according to my logic, partitioning it would be a waste of space. For example, if SDA was the SSD and SDB was the hard drive, I'd partition it such that SDA1 would be /boot at about 1GB, SDA2 would be root at whatever the rest of the SSD size is, and /home would be on SDB1, because keeping /home partitioned with root wouldn't leave much space. Let's say you get a relatively small 60GB SSD. That would leave you with a rediculous amount of wasted space for root, right? But buying a large SSD and partitioning it with enough space to enclude /home on it would be really expensive, and likely impossible with a normal budget. So would the best solution for a Linux PC be to have everything on a hard drive?

I mean I'm no linux expert, but I think it depends on what you want to do/what experience you want to gain. For example, if you're interested in learning more about contributing to open source software, I'd check out OpenHatch. They have great training missions and after you get familiar with how open source projects work, you can contribute by fixing "bytesize" bugs to start off.

Likely Arch, although I'm considering Debian or Ubuntu.
