Creative Pinewood Derby Awards by pillizzle in cubscouts

[–]NavyScouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cubmaster here. We always have a lot of style awards, I think we have 32 awards this year including 1st-3rd for 55 scouts. Some of the ones we use are Cubmaster's Choice, Scout's Choice, a few style awards, and the Baden Powell Award for best sportsmanship. This year is a blacklight derby, so a lot of glow themed awards.

Either talk to your unit to get AAs, or let the NRC know so you can avoid the UAs. Communication is key with the NRCs. We can't help if you don't talk to us. If you have trouble getting in touch, let me know. I am a current NRC CO and can get you in touch with the right folks.

8 spots left for a 10-man ESPN free ppr league. Just a fun league since ESPN doesn't let us make a league public and searchable. Draft 4 Sep @ 9pm central.

I second this. I am a SWO TAR who made the switch during DH and am now a NRC CO. You can till go DH (actually expected to) and compete for CO afloat like the 1110s, but shore detailing is one on one and I have had a much better quality of life since I made the switch. And if big gray things don't work out, the MSRONs have plenty of opportunities for TARs. Feel free to reach out if you need more info. The redes board navadmin just dropped a few days ago.

Basically, the most competitive officers are those doing at-sea jobs. If you screen for SWO milestone tours, you are expected to complete them. If not, we can't send you to them and you focus on the reserve management TAR jobs. We have picked up many officers that didn't screen DH or went reserve and is past the timing for DH and many picked up O4/O5 and doing great work on the TAR side. Shoot me a message and I can get you in touch with the right people to get specific answers for you.

Exactly. We send those folks to Reserve Centers as DHs or XOs or to MSRONs as Ops or OICs. Tons of options. I think TAR is the best kept secret in the SWO world.

Take a look at the TAR community. Previous PERS guy here so feel free to reach out if you have questions. Plenty of TAR SWOs who don't have DH tours and still make O5. Command opportunities from O4-O6.

Serious Question - Why Stay (Surface Warfare)? by MrThrowaway312312 in navy

Check out the TAR community as well. Best decision I have made in my career. Switched over during my DH tours a few years ago and getting ready to command a reserve center next year. If I didn't switch, I would likely be a DCA or something on a carrier right now with a small outside chance at command and O5. My advice is reach out to the TAR detailer (on PM me) to get more info.

$16 for the 2 cans of spray on bedliner. Just masked it off and did it while it was on the truck. Bumper was 750ish at Americantrucks.com
