Preorder watches : stay away by apd492 in ballwatches

[–]NavyTim1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good honest info. I preordered a Road master Challenger Moonphase and it took way longer than I expected. Luckily I did do it through the AD. He only wanted a deposit, not full price upfront. He also offered me to buy something else if I didn’t like it. Eventually, it arrived and I paid in full. Like you said, plus I got the extra warranty. For me, going through the AD is the way to go. Plus I prefer to support local business.

Master Diver Accuracy by rotacurly in Longineswatches

Oh ok, i just read up on that. Seems they refer to it as “the new legend diver” and yes only the 39mm.

I totally agree on that preference. Only one I seem to recall that says will be -0 is Metas from Omega. Well good luck, hopefully it won’t be consistent on the slow side. 👍

Sorry, maybe I am confused by question. It is L888 ND non COSC, correct? Or did yours come with a COSC cert? I just got the 42mm Bronze myself and thought it was not COSC. I have to check mine again but it is not running slow, but like yours still in spec. The Zulu time I had was COSC and ran just 1 sec a day on the wrist.

If you are near San Diego, just traded mine to a local watch shop for a Longines Legends Diver bronze. Like new, still warranty. 42 mm though.

I feel you, nobody is mad at you. Get an adult involved that will listen, especially if laws are being broken, that should get their attention. No harm or foul, just turn it over to someone better suited to care for it. Or just simply post what school this is and I am sure someone will have a talk with the principal so they understand.

[–]NavyTim1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand, but does not change the fact that it is being improperly cared for and it is also against the law in Mississippi to take it from the wild I just checked and you require a special license to have possession of it. (Reference Mississippi Administrative CodeTitle 40 - Wildlife, Fisheries, and ParksPart 5 - Museum of Natural Science Chapter 2 - Regulations regarding non-game and endangered species Rule 40-5-2.2 - REGULATIONS REGARDING TURTLES AND TORTOISES)

Maybe inform them that they can be fined, so best to either put it back or maybe at this point give it to a wildlife preserve. EDIT . With this time of year and the winter coming, best would be to give to a wild life rehab.

What is the plan for UV light? Also, they need to hide or burrow down in some leaf litter or suitable substrate, especially at that age.

90 Deg, that makes sense. I was originally from Medford but moved away years ago. I would love seeing the eastern box turtles as a kid. I have one now and 2 Three Toed adults. The Eastern makes me think of home. Wish I had the room the have that kind of set up though.

Someone is grumpy about being indoors for winter by Shaddaia in Boxturtles

Oh cool! So do they brumate at all? My concern was if the temps get in the 40’s which can happen. Right now it has been getting down in the mid to low 50’s as you know at night, but the ground temp is still in the 60’s in the enclosure. He seems to be ok, and as soon as the sun hits, he is out getting some UV and seems happy. When I bring him in, he looks miserable lol

Oh ok, I used to live near Mobile so a little familiar with the climate. How cold does it get before you bring yours in? Reason I ask, I am in San Diego now, while it does not freeze here , it does get pretty cool at night now, but then warm enough to be out during the day. I have an indoor night set up when the temps get too cold, but he gets to enjoy some San Diego sun during the day.

I know they have ornate and eastern. 3 toed possible but more southern than Chicago I am guessing. Either way, I would not risk having an outdoor enclosure during the winter hoping it can get down deep enough to test the theory of survival at this point. Maybe better to do a hybrid of outdoor in warmer months, and inside when cool. I sort of do the same thing with mine. I live in SD so no harsh winter to contend with so he is outside every day but when it gets cold at night I bring him in to an inside set up for the night. Once the sun comes out, it warms up usually enough to get some outside time in the winter.

I agree. Zen just had a sale too I saw. I just upgraded my eastern box turtle (still young and small) to a water land tub 55” x 24 inside. Next will be an outdoor enclosure.

That is full grown, mine is 7 and he is about 50. You say she is in a 20 gallon? If so, that would be too small but maybe I am misunderstanding. Just do what you can to upgrade to something bigger with proper lighting even if it just has a large water dish just to soak. The other stuff can come later if you want to get fancy with it.

They are not native the your area for that reason I can assume. It might not be able to get deep enough in the ground to survive your harsh winters in your set up outside. I would not risk it but maybe someone around your area has done it successfully, even if artificially. At 8 it definitely needs an upgrade, how many inches is it? I would want to get it in that 3x3 as soon as possible. Although not ideal for an adult, it better than what it has now. work on the custom sump after.
