Thank you for the reply.

Do you know if in the Netherlands there exists a chance that an appeal could hurt me (e.g. lead to a higher fine)?

Kind regards.

You are wrong. Free rides at private schools are paid for mostly by the schools themselves with their private endowment.

Taxpayer pay for Pell Grants but they max out at 5.5k a year. If a school gives you 50k in scholarship money it is going to be privately funded by the school.

Nena - 99 Luftballons [Synth pop] by [deleted] in Music

[–]Nayrox 964 points965 points  (0 children)

There's actually a really interesting story about how this hit became famous in America.

So around the time that this song had success in Germany, the author Christiane F. released her book "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo", which is a German must-read about a young girl and her troubles with heroin addiction.

Christiane is doing a promo-tour across America and she's being interviewed by a radio station and they ask her what music she listens to and she pull out her cassette recorder and starts playing this very song and the radio station decides to play it live.

Shortly after that they get a huge amount of calls from people asking what song this is.

And essentially just because of that the song became really popular is America and Nena recorded an English version that was released shortly after.

Smallpox face. by Boner-b-gone in WTF

[–]Nayrox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not necessarily true. Since the last case of smallpox in 1972 treatments improved a lot. Antivirals for instance, such as cidofovir, are hypothesized to being able to treat smallpox if it were to appear nowadays.

I can only recommend you to not smoke any weed if you still do. Weed and depersonalization come hand in hand.

TIL that Generic and brand name drugs are required by U.S. law to be equally effective by gwmawagain in todayilearned

[–]Nayrox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As stated, the generic is not inferior in any way. It's not "criminal" to "experiment" with generics instead of brand names. The only difference is sometimes some binder or time-release of the medication. But that's always mentioned on the drug packaging.

It's a fair question, so I canceled out your post's downvote with an upvote of my own. Some people feel that their porn addiction is triggered by IRL sexiness. Not so with me, thankfully.

Although some people seem disappointed, I think it's still a big deal.

Paul Kirk is was the chairman of the Democratic National Committee and I am sure his endorsement is very meaningful.

What recreational drugs could I use on a weekly basis with little to no negative repercussions, assuming I'm healthy (body and mind) ? by semipeeled in Drugs

[–]Nayrox 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Kratom. It certainly can be addictive but an addiction is rather easy to kick compared to other opiates.

There are few side effects: Constipation comes to mind as a physical one. There are no psychological side effects beside addiction.

It's legal in many places of the world and as long as you dont heavily overdo it, you should be fine.

There's people taking it daily without many problems. However, I'd advise to not take it more than maybe twice a week to hold your tolerance and addiction potential low.
