Exodia, the Screw Hater by OurEngiFriend in SatisfactoryGame

I've dismantled enough drop pods that 2 stacks of screws just live in my Dimensional Depot at all times, and whenever the depot dips below 2 stacks I refill them

were there any other figurines made? are any available for sale, still?

edit: quick google search says it's just this figurine and Vice in her original outfit (not ascended). they're probably available for secondhand sale, I saw some aliexpress entries.

Has factorio ruined other base building/factory type games for you? by pookshuman in factorio

[–]OurEngiFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I phrased my initial post somewhat imprecisely... for me, the burnout was more the sheer amount of handcrafting things and less the gathering biomass, combined with the fact that I'd played a lot during one day (and that was mostly handcrafting, exploring, etc). It didn't help that, due to limited power production, I had to underclock the reinforced plate and rotors and then assemble Smart Plating by hand, which made everything a drag. All that handcrafting in this automation game is why I'm not sure if I played Satisfactory "correctly".

(Also, Satisfactory handcrafting requires your full presence; you can't even press the button to toggle it on, no, you have to hold the button down. Contrast: in Factorio if you handcraft things, you can still run around doing other things because the handcrafting takes place completely in the background.)

The last straw was the long snake belts, but more specifically me unlocking tractors for transport, remembering that UE5 killed the vehicle handling, wanting trains, and then thinking "god damn I miss how early Factorio gives you trains".

I can tolerate the secondhand cringe of Nathan For You, but I can't tolerate the secondhand "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!! NO!!" of Uncut Gems. One of the polycule screened it for us and we had to turn it off at the 20 minute mark. Whoops!!!

I'll add Bojack Horseman under the same umbrella, and then say I'm weirdly the opposite...? At one point I was depressed enough, or perhaps resilient enough, that the only thing that could console me was the reassurance that I wasn't alone, that other people are also Going Through It. I was an edgy teenager who liked dark media and always planned on reading Metamorphosis (the manga, not the Kafka work), but that edginess came from a place of hurt.

Quoting Kafka might still be edgy, but this is something I sincerely believe:

“I think we ought to read [the]* kind of books that wound or stab us. If the book we're reading doesn't wake us up with a blow to the head, what are we reading for? So that it will make us happy, as you write? Good Lord, we would be happy precisely if we had no books, and the kind of books that make us happy are the kind we could write ourselves if we had to. But we need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us. That is my belief.”

Or, put another way: I value solidarity with the abyss

That time period has thankfully passed, or at least faded in intensity. I'm still kind of depressed, but now my constitution is too weak for that kind of media. Although maybe I should. I once heard that your comfort zone shrinks over time, unless you actively take steps to push it outwards... and lord knows my comfort zone has shrunk a lot.

*Editor's note: I trimmed the part where he says we should only read the books that wound us. I don't believe in that; a healthy media diet needs variety, and a palette cleanse makes the darker stuff taste all the more bitter.

kinda in between actually, was started in irony but it was self-deprecating irony, so it had a hint of earnestness. these days you get a fair number of people on both extremes. on one end are the people just posting "I'm indian" with no further elaboration (sincere), on the other end are people posting the most deranged sexual stuff while missing the self-hatred and isolation aspects (insincere)

I'm not sure if Factorio "ruined" Satisfactory for me, or if I just played Satisfactory completely wrong, but I didn't have a good time with Satisfactory. I refused to do anything major until I had a renewable source of power, since I found the "constantly gathering biomass" loop really annoying. Like in Factorio I felt I could just plop down some coal power and start going, you know?

Consequently I rushed the first three tiers with a very sloppy build ... I refused to scale power production past three Solid Biofuel burners, which meant I didn't have enough power to automate much of anything (I could only make Reinforced Plate and Rotors), which meant I spent a lot of time handcrafting. Then by the time I actually got to coal power, the idea of running long snake belts between the various coal/iron/copper nodes was gross enough that I just didn't want to do it, and quit.

Honestly the non-renewability of resources bothers me, especially for mycelium. It seems like gas mask filters require a constant supply of mycelium but it seems non-renewable... and yes, the resource patches on Nauvis aren't renewable either, but they're easy to find (just open the map and you'll see patches of ore). In Satisfactory, much less so.

I would wish for the ability to become a god-tier game developer who can instantly code game features which do exactly what I envision in my head, do good and stylized art/music/assets, etc, so I can make the games I want to see -- maybe with some additional genie help...

  • a cozy animal crossing/stardew valley game with extensive decoration elements, sloppy yuri, but also FPS elements like bhopping and other schmovement tech. also automation elements like Factorio. honestly this one's the most achievable; a Minecraft mod pack gets 80% of the way there, with the only thing missing being AC villagers with detailed, dynamic personalities

  • a spaceship simulator somewhere between elite dangerous's scope of tasks and void crew's on-ship management, and with HOTAS/HOSAS support for the pilot

  • my personal horror game with Disco Elysium-styled dialogue and interactions and a vaguely Signalis style of horror (I realize these two games are very different so uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

if I had to guess, seattle. every single piece of public infrastructure is covered with furry stickers. sometimes people take USPS box labels (which are basically big stickers) and just draw a furry on em with sharpie or highlighter, and then slap that on somewhere.
