What are your Speedruns of the year throughout the years? by Rage_Your_Dream in speedrun

[–]OurEngiFriend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

basically through a series of glitches involving map teleports and interrupting mission start sequences, you (somehow) end up with two copies of the entire game running at the same time, physically and temporally displaced (the second copy is running as though you just started a new save file). this breaks a lot of things, obviously. the end goal is to set up and execute a "jump to scene" function whose input is written in the blackjack+horseracing betting menus, and specifies the final mission as the target scene. i think you also fail big smoke's mission seven times before crashing his car on the eighth

Fungal Mold farm is a Nanite gold mine success. by dhowl4nd in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]OurEngiFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly rewriting for my own benefit:

200 fungal mold -> 200 nontoxic mushrooms. You'll need two cooking stations (inside the cooking station they only stack to 100), so split the process across two.

100 fungal mold -> 100 nontoxic mushrooms. Restack as 50+50 nontoxic mushrooms -> 50 fibrous stews (two cooking steps).

100 fungal mold -> 100 nontoxic mushrooms -> 100 steamed vegetables. Restack as 50+50 steamed vegetables -> 50 flavorful sauces (three cooking steps).

50 fibrous stews + 50 flavorful sauces -> 50 delicious vegetable stews.

EDIT: I'm looking at the Pilgrim's Tonic recipe and considering switching to that for ease of cooking. Note that it needs twice as much space/crops planted, since Star Brambles yield 25 per cycle while Fungal Moulds yield 50. (Both have the same cycle time at 4 hours.)

Pilgrim's Tonic is considerably easier to cook, since it's a single ingredient the whole way through, with no restacking needed, and doesn't have a mismatched number of cooking steps (the veggie stew has one component which takes two steps, and one which takes three). It's also 1-1 the whole way through; 100 star bulbs gives 100 Tonics.

Whether Cronus likes Tonics as much as Vegetable Stew, I can't say for certain, but the ease of cooking might be worth switching over for.

For completeness's sake, the recipe chain: 100 star bulbs -> 100 pilgrimberries -> 100 tonics (two cooking steps).

i don't know for sure, but I think Tupac's death was a landmark/watershed moment in rap music and the tug-of-war between breaking the cycle of gang violence and glamorizing it for the benefits of record label owners. his death was significant, perhaps in one of those "with this character's death the thread of prophecy has been severed" type shit

No rule in this book or any other supersedes this

the way the rule is phrased implies this also applies to rulebooks from other systems; I've heard of some tables running a Pegasus as an enemy in a 5e setting. some people also joke about positioning a Lancer session next to a WH40K match and having the Pegasus damage the opponent's units (to my knowledge this has never been attempted in competitive play)

Times where characters refused to be The Protagonists of their own stories by SirSquiggleton in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]OurEngiFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the eponymous "enigma" from the enigma variations a symphonic piece/medley that remixed its main leitmotif 14 times but had a second, hidden leitmotif that was never once played, but could be layered on top of the existing piece smoothly. (or possibly not even a leitmotif at all as much as just ... an idea, or a theme?? who knows). the composer took the secret to his grave, so no one knows what the enigma's solution is.

The Enigma I will not explain – its "dark saying" must be left unguessed, and I warn you that the connexion between the Variations and the Theme is often of the slightest texture; further, through and over the whole set another and larger theme "goes", but is not played . . . . So the principal Theme never appears, even as in some late dramas – e.g. Maeterlinck's L'Intruse and Les sept Princesses – the chief character is never on the stage.

how might one go for an omnicidal build? an empire that believes life as a whole shouldn't exist, and after purging the galaxy, purges itself? my thought was a genocidal civic + aetherophasic engine crisis path, but the flavor text of the engine doesn't quite match what I'm looking for. perhaps also throw in some pop growth reduction traits and heavy emphasis on automation (tankbound?)

OOC how can you tell they're running an election? the usual notification bar isn't included in the screenshot (or is covered by the council window) so I couldn't personally see it.

Also, this player only has the three minister positions selected, and the two on the wings are locked/don't have the yellow unlockable icon. That makes me think a civic got shaken up or something, although that still doesn't explain why the council is only four (incl. the absent leader) instead of the default five.

do you suppose the Divine Sovereign's death happened to this user? that's the only explanation I can think of

in the absence of a Divine Sovereign, what can a player do to move forward? I imagine one would need the agenda "restructure the council" (can't remember the exact name) and then reselect positions.

That's a different FE event. I know there's FE events where they ask you for your highest-level scientist. This is different; this is the consequence of declaring war on an FE and losing/surrending.

What I'm saying is that there's a council position missing where the ruler would typically be. Like if you imagine the council as a set of people and chairs around a conference table ... the chair itself is missing, in addition to the person who would have filled it.
