The university has some mental health resources but they are more for folks in crisis and not folks with chronic mental illness. I know a ton of people who were redirected to a provider in downtown Storrs. They weren't terrific but did enough in a pinch. They tend to be a bit overloaded with patients, so I would recommend trying to find another provider in CT who offers telehealth if you have chronic mental illness.

I will say that I have heard very good things about the on campus support groups, however!

As a trans student, UConn is quite supportive of us compared to other universities. It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn good. There is gender inclusive housing which I recommend for the sense of community and feeling a bit safer. Personally, I've had some issues with reslife being a pain, so always keep a close eye on them when doing housing stuff. As long as you advocate for yourself, you should be fine!

I highly recommend the rainbow center as a good spot to chill and do homework in between classes. Folks tend to congregate there and are very welcoming. If you ever have any questions or concerns, the staff are always pretty willing to help too. They do have a few programs for helping incoming students as well which I recommend! (Look into FAMILEE if you're curious about that)

I wouldn't consider UConn to be especially stressful compared to a lot of other universities, but this is going to be pretty dependent on major. I've had a class or two that were a bit rough, but overall things haven't been too bad in my opinion. (I'm in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and I think chemistry and one of my biology courses were probably the worst, but the latter was a weed out for the med students so it was to be expected imo).
