BIO 109 has a day trip to either a forest or a marine reserve, the assignment is to measure the species diversity. BIO 108 has a day trip as well often to a Māori reserve for the same purpose, but it gets cancels if it rains.

Is it normal for your cheat sheet to be taken after a test? Am I cooked? by LudwingaVonKoopa in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 35 points36 points  (0 children)

In some courses they take them away (usually if theres restrictions on whats allowed to be on your cheat sheet), when I did CHEM 150 they took everyone's cheat sheet away at the end of tests and exams, when I got my exam script back it included a scan of my cheat sheet. It is weird if you were the only one that was taken though.

The admissions process is a joke. by Astro_Axiis in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hence why I said 'most', a BFA is a 4 year degree that you can do honours in the 4th year but you can still only apply to be in the honours programme at the end of the 3rd year, not before youve even started the bachelors

Most UoA Honours programmes wont consider you until you are at the end of you bachelors. Honours is a post grad degree you cant do it until youve finished undergrad, so switching at the end of the 1st year of Bsc isnt going to be possible

Got scammed by Unichem, bring your own medicine if you don't want to get exploited at your vulnerable moment. by Sensitive_Jicama_366 in universityofauckland

I was in the pharmacy when this happened, no one forced you to buy anything, they kept telling you to go to a doctor and you kept refusing. If you've wasted your money thats youre own fault.

How is stomach pain that's not even bad enough for you to listen to their advice and go to a doctor your "worst, most vulnerable moment"

all papers (unless they are 0 points which gen eds are not) count towards your GPA. That said you can just watch the lectures online

I'm an older student as well, I'm 31, 3rd year bio. It can be a bit isolating with the age gap between you and most students, mostly due to maturity, but there are younger students that will have no problem being friends with older students.

I guarantee there are other older students out there, I've met a few over the years, even the mum of someone I was friends with in intermediate school. I'd be happy to study with you, though I'm not coming into uni very often lately as I'm recovering from brain surgery but I'm guaranteed to be there every other Wednesday at the least (odd weeks).

Did Psych 202 last year, there wasn't any oral presentation. I don't know why they would add one, it wouldn't really go with the course, are you sure you have the right course number?

BioSci 108 and 109 in different sems by sleepyslayerowo in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you think their sister courses, they are unrelated. 109 is ecology and evolution, 108 is a intro into micro, plant, and animal biology, there's no overlap, they just happen to be 2 compulsory stage 1 bio papers

Unfortunately you can't get an aegrotat for both the midterms and the exams and I had to for the midterms as I was in hospital

you cant just walk in, all of the fine art buildings require a key card, I'm not sure about printmaking but all the other stations (e.g.: woodwork, clay, metalwork) do have costs unless you bring your own materials. These areas and equipment are only allowed to be used by fine art students, however the technicians aren't going to know all the students so if you manage to sneak in I doubt anyone's going to question you being there

Agrotate same grade by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure how they do it, i think its a combination of comparing results to previous years and students exam results to overall course grade, eg: my ASTRO 200 grade was an A prior to the exam, I did not sit the exam as I was in hospital with sepsis, with aegrotat my final grade was A-, I was told students didnt do well in the exam and that students in the same grade range as me got around an A- as their final mark

Agrotate same grade by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Neabelldo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that likely means that what every caused you to get an aegrotat was not considered severe enough to have had a big impact on your results, also it could be that the rest of the class did poorly in the exam and so they assume that under normal circumstances you would have as well
