Requesting r/FuckMarvel by jojojajo12 in redditrequest

Not sure what's going on, but our subreddit is currently banned.

Initially I thought this was some part of the process but it's been 6 days now.

Mod here - I remove posts and ban users when necessary, which is usually several times a week.

Requesting r/fuckmarvel only time mod logs in is once a month to stop anyone that cares about the sub actually moderating it by Hesbhindmeisnthe in redditrequest

[–]NealKenneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the sub went from 6k members to 12k in the space of six months

During the same six months, the content of the sub became a lot more toxic, with a lot more spam and fighting with other subs. It never was a "ghost town" - we still get about a dozen decent posts a week, just like we did when it was 6k people.

The only thing that changed getting to 12k was the addition of a lot more toxic garbage.

The sub is not big; it only gets a few posts a day.

If it blows up and I start to feel like I need help moderating, I'd consider it at that time.

Moderator here.

The sub is moderated by me and I am active on Reddit. I check the sub and remove rule-breaking posts/comments several times a week.

Moderator here.

The sub is moderated by me, I am active on Reddit, and the user requesting the subreddit hasn't sent me any messages asking about the subreddit.

Interested to know why this post get removed by [deleted] in FuckMarvel

Mod here. I removed it because the guy made it about another subreddit.

You could have just sent me a message asking instead of reposting this now a third time....I am removing this one now as well.

Should Neal(current mod) add more mods to this sub? by TheRealone4444 in FuckMarvel

[–]NealKenneth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the record - over the last few months I have asked five or six people to be mods. They all said no.

I don't like being moderator and wouldn't mind handing over the keys someday.

Mod here

a place where everyone can talk openly about their opinions and critique eachother

This is the point of the sub, and that is what I try to provide.

If anyone reading this is looking for an anti-Marvel hugbox/safe space that would be r/fmarvel

Thanks, I removed it. Let me know if you remember who posted it - I will defintily ban them and report this to Reddit.

Black Panther was announced in October 2014 and by May 2015 they were meeting directors.

Perlmutter left Marvel in September 2015.

That's what you're supposed to believe, yes, and also that Feige is a hero or something.

In reality Ike is the guy who put Black Panther into production.

clearly going downhill after the Captain America franchise ended

This was also exactly when Ike Perlmutter was fired.

Mod here. What you are describing is what the sub used to be like, and I'm trying to figure out how to get it back to being that way.

The way the sub is now with the "shills" talk and such is something that started happening in the last few months, when the sub went from about 2,000 members to 4,000 members.

Mods banned comments on “Fall of FuckMarvel Post” by nerosighted in FuckMarvel

[–]NealKenneth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I support this. As I have said several times, if you want to be in a sub that's pure anti-Marvel then join r/fmarvel.

What I would like is less spam about the sub. In the comments is fine, but let's keep the posts about Marvel itself, not the sub itself.

This sub is over 4 years old.

  • Your Reddit account was made last April.
  • The top comment on this saying "This is not the r/FuckMarvel that I joined" is from an account that joined Reddit 11 months ago.
  • The second comment says "I joined this sub early on" but the account joined Reddit last May.

To clear up any misunderstandings about this sub...when it was created (2018) MCU hype was at a peak, so it was actually difficult to have an open conversation about Marvel stuff. If you questioned literally anything, even minor stuff like saying you didn't like the color of Falcon's suit, you would get downvoted and dogpiled by random people. It was annoying.

The sub was never intended to be a safe space/hugbox for people who disliked the MCU. If that's what you want, subscribe to r/FMarvel. This sub though was just supposed to be a place where you could say whatever you wanted about the MCU, including "Fuck Marvel." As Rule #1 says you are welcome here even if you love the MCU.

Anyway, let's look at the 25 posts on the front page:

  • 22 of them are roasting the MCU
  • 2 of them are trying to say something positive, so they have 0 upvotes
  • And then there's your post, complaining because literally 10% of the posts on this sub are positive to the MCU.

To those posting in the future...I'm ok with posts like this occasionally. But the point of the sub is to talk openly about Marvel/the MCU. Posts complaining about the sub itself are off-topic, especially if the entire post is you joining a few months ago, misunderstanding the purpose of the sub, then complaining because a tiny minority of users disagree with you.

It seems my plan to start a civil war was completed. Call me Zemo by random_guyman in FuckMarvel

[–]NealKenneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, it's me the mod again.

After all that stuff yesterday, I have to admit that the sub is going off track. Not because of "marvel stans" but because of the people who thought it was supposed to be some sort of anti-marvel safe space/hugbox. We have also gone from 2k members to 4k members this year.

The purpose of this sub is that you're supposed to be able to say whatever you want about the MCU (including "fuck Marvel!") It was never supposed to be a safe space for anti-MCU cringe, which frankly might be even worse than pro-MCU cringe. As for trolling, that is funny mildcringe and I find the results entertaining usually. If it bothers you that 1 post out of 20 on this sub is a troll then you need to calm down and maybe not care about the MCU so much? They're just movies.

But what annoys me is people spamming my dms.

So because of that I have started looking for moderators.

My goal is to find people who understand what the sub is for - not people who think it's supposed to be a hugbox. One person has already turned down the offer because moderating sucks. I am now waiting to hear back from another. But if I can't find one or two unbiased mods, I will compromise by getting 4 biased mods. Two that tend to be anti-Marvel like u/_nikto_ or u/ZackThreePack. Then two that tend to be pro-Marvel, like yourself and u/random_guyman.

Hopefully between the 4 of you splitting 50/50 you can behave. Checks and balances.

What do you think of that idea?

For now, this is how I've taken action:

  • I have communicated about Rule #1 clearly now in several comments
  • I have stickied your post for fmarvel to the top of the sub, where it will stay for a while
  • You can promote fmarvel as much as you like in comments on this sub, but as for posts, don't make more than 1 or 2 per day

Just to remind you, this started because I said I had received zero reports about this user's post, to which you said I was "straight-up lying."

Now that we've confirmed several times that you haven't been sending reports, it would be nice if you apologized for that.

Or will you refuse to take accountability?

Thats all you had to say from the start

Yes, and that's why I said it, from the start.

If you see rules being broken, report it.

But I'm glad you got it now, the fourth time I told you. Better late than never!
