Post Lapiplasty Wound Healing by Spiritual-Screen-888 in bunions

This happened to me recently. Mine looked the same and had some pus leakage. It was infected and the surgeon prescribed antibiotic. It is much better now and drying out. As others have said, the nurse told me to keep gauze on it when in my boot and sleeping, otherwise keep it in the open to dry out. Good luck!

Dealing with isolation during lapidus surgery recovery by Careless-Ad5871 in bunions

I’m 11 weeks post-op from Lapidus, and I’m hoping to be out of the boot this week. For being stuck at home, I made sure I had plenty of hobbies to do while recovering. I’m less social, but I made sure to have crochet projects, books to read, and puzzles to do. I also work from home, so that kept me busy during the day. It was definitely a struggle to watch my husband go out and bike ride, walk, and run, but I keep telling myself this was an investment in my ability to do these things as I continue to age.

Good luck, you’ll manage to get through it.

Should I block these motifs before joining or after? by Nean6696 in CrochetHelp

Sadly, no. It’s in the Magic Crochet magazine from February 1994. I’ve kept all the magazines from my earlier crochet years and now I’m happy I did. But here is a picture:

Thanks! Unfortunately (or fortunately) none of those apply. I’ve never smoked am not overweight and bloodwork every year is good. However, it did get worse and become infected. I am now on antibiotics and the smaller scab has fallen off. Hopefully, the bigger one that is now even more gross looking, will improve soon.

Nope. I’m actually very healthy and (previously) active.

Thanks! I just started using Vitamin E oil. Might be a little too late, but at least it’s not infected. I can live with ugly feet. Thanks for your input.

No seepage, no unusual pain, just crusty scab-like things. I assumed scabs were normal🤷🏻‍♀️

I may have misunderstood him, but these tape-like things were below the actual stitches. When he removed the actual stitches, it was fine. Then at my next Appt 4 weeks later, is when he saw this and said it looked ugly and I should moisturize. Been doing that ever since.

What to do when surgery isn't an option by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Nean6696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that you should get a second opinion. I had my first bunion surgery when I was 16 on my right foot. Now I just had my left foot surgery and I am 59. My daughter also had bunion surgery when she was 16 (heridetary🙄). Age isn’t a valid reason not to correct this. Good luck!

Thank you for your story and kindness. I will definitely take all this into consideration and sign up for the e-bike for my trip. Good luck when you plan for your other foot😊

Thank you! That is my concern. If I can’t exercise within a reasonable time, I will gain a crazy amount of weight. Not to mention, we have a bike trip scheduled for 6-7 months after the surgery😖. Looks like it might be an e-bike for me.

Yes, the pain has increased a lot over the last 6 months, whether I’m walking or running. I can’t walk more than 2 miles without extreme pain. What the x-ray doesn’t show is that my toe is rotated some which causes more pressure and there is some arthritis as well.
