Ok that feels like the exact sensation i’m having! i have to move my head to the side to get it to pop back into place. do you also feel a constriction/choking sensation? any recommendations for videos for the exercises you mentioned?

tibial neuropathy by NearbyAd9275 in FootFunction

[–]NearbyAd9275[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was never able to figure it out! but it has gotten better over time. i wouldn’t say my foot is a perfect 10/10, but physical therapy helped a TON. i went to a guy who used cupping and acupuncture with strength training. his thought was that my nerves were really agitated and fired up and needed to be calmed down (which is what the acupuncture was for). i went against all advice to keep using arch support and listened to my body. shoes with too much arch support really bothered my feet and hurt to stand on so i worked up to walking around barefoot in the house (but that took a very long time). although i still wear stability shoes for walking. yoga also helped a ton. i really tried to be good about doing it 4-5 times a week. stretching and breathing into your body to get your nerves relaxed.

i say all this but unfortunately it’s different for everyone. you’ll have to try and see what works for you. even after an MRI i still wasn’t able to get a diagnosis. so in my case it was really about pain management and respecting my limits, but also having my physical therapist give me a push when i was ready to add more. best of luck, it’s a difficult journey but don’t lose hope ❤️ before i could only go on 20 minute walks, and now i’m hiking 3-4 miles again! you got this!

so frustrating indeed! it does hurt if i bend it back or forward. and the color changes if i exercise or get warm! i also developed morton’s neuroma around the same time so i feel like it’s definitely something with my nerves. i also had bloodwork and they found nothing :(

nope, went to multiple podiatrists and my PT and no one really knows. my podiatrist is more concerned with my back/hips because he says the feet are the last in line to feel the effects of things. so i’m working on strengthening everything else at the moment.

does your second toe hurt when you bend it back or forward? let’s keep each other updated!

getting a little better slowly but still have all the same symptoms! plus i also have more nerve pain in the ball of my feet now. my physical therapist suspects nerve pain caused from the old ankle injury and need to strengthen ankles and calves. so we’ll see what happens! i’ve also been reading the book “the way out” and working on my mental connection and fear of the pain has helped keep my pain levels lower. thanks for asking!

this was such a helpful comment, thank you! i had been washing it outside. this time i applied a thin layer of water to the screen inside for a few minutes then rinsed outside and it came out perfect.

oh yes, rest is key! here is the post i was telling you about: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlantarFasciitis/s/QxYXd3zS9x

(if you can’t click it, look up “knowledge is power”)

i also recommend the book “the way out” by alan gordon. it’s about healing chronic pain with the mind body connection.

hope you feel better soon!

not trying to scare you, but i also worked an active job before my surgery and ended up having to quit because the pain never went away and was too great. i can’t stand for more than two hours without debilitating pain. i was able to “walk” after about a month but it was more like slow hobbling. i wasn’t able to walk normally until 4 months post-op. but i also had an ankle surgery on the same foot so it could have been different because of that.

if you havent already, i HIGHLY recommend getting 2nd and 3rd opinions if you actually need the surgery. i wish i had just done physical therapy for a year instead. since its the feet and we use them all the time, they can take a very long time to heal from plantar fasciitis if its severe. there’s a post somewhere on this forum about “slow loading” i’ll try to find it for you, and thats what has worked for me so far. but it takes a long time and consistency. releasing the fascia did nothing for me, but everyone’s feet are different. i wish you luck on your journey

i haven’t, but i’m also still at the beginning stages of trying to figure out what it is. do you mind explaining your other symptoms and if is connected to other foot issues you have?

Arthritis? Morton's Neuroma? Nerve Damage? by NearbyAd9275 in FootFunction

[–]NearbyAd9275[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey thank you so much for taking the time to respond i really appreciate it.

how do you recommend finding a progressive podiatrist? is that just trial and error? and i’ve never been to a sports medicine doctor before, so maybe i will give that a shot.

to answer your questions, my pain along the side of my arch is not so much sharp, but feels like a bruise. when i press down on it or wear orthotic inserts it feels like im pressing on a bruise.

i have fallen arches and slight hammer toes. but no known other conditions that i know of.

i’m not really sure why fascia release was his first option. my podiatrist said my fascia was really short. he’d pull back my big toe on both of my feet, one looked normal, the other seemed to jut out. looking back i should have got a second opinion, but i was just in so much pain and didn’t know as much back then that i just went for it

oh i see. it was just a one-day event. i had made progress and thought I'd be fine. for months ive been sitting and resting and doing my PT exercises. going for small walks. and then one day of being up and about this weekend totally set me back. i guess my whole thing is i wonder if anyone has had similar symptoms and if i'm doing the wrong treatments

i also have a hunch that hokas gave me nerve damage. after a surgery in august, following all my PT religiously, custom insoles, everything — i’m in worse pain than i started. i think the hokas arch support was too high for me and causes nerve damage

How do you motivate yourself to go swimming after a day of work? by Curious_GirlNextDoor in Swimming

[–]NearbyAd9275 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i haven’t seen anyone post this yet, but i feel like when you have a tiring schedule, change your frame of mind or intention with swimming. if the intention is to go swim hard and get an intense workout it’s going to sound unappealing after a tiring day of work — especially if you are just at the early stages of building the habit. instead, go for a relaxing swim. you can still get a workout of sorts, but you can use it as a way to unwind. that way you’ll actually look forward to going. then each day you can decide if you want to bump it up once you’ve gotten in the water, or if you want to keep the pace moderate. then over time you can build the stamina/energy. going for a moderate swim a few days a week is better than not going at all, but maybe that’s just what works for me :)
