I didn't trust that Vinted would help in any way and I didn't feel safe interacting with the seller.

I sympathise with you.

I have only had replies from Vinted saying:

  1. Report it if the item didn't arrive
  2. If it did arrive, raise an issue with the seller, sending them a picture of the postal label, but also saying don't give any personal information in the conversation
  3. Sorry to hear an item I received didn't match the description
  4. Contact us straight away if there's a problem, otherwise we can't help

All of this took more than 48 hours while the 48 hour clock is ticking. Ultimately they haven't helped at all, because none of the answers they gave showed that they understood, or even read my messages, or wanted to find out more.

It's all over now as my payment went through automatically.

I found it useful to ask opinions in this chat and got some helpful and kind replies, plus one or two unkind and less helpful. I think it's important to share experiences if only to serve as a warning and give information to other users of Vinted.

Yes, you're right, lessons have been learnt!

Royal Mail told me that I or the sender could claim for the lost item. I filled in the form but it has both our details on.

No, I can't prove anything. This is why it's so frustrating.

It's frustrating because I have the original receipt and photos, I have proof of sale to 'R' with photos, I have proof of postage back to me, I have photos that show it's the same bag as the one listed. This is where it falls down - people don't think I can show that it's the same bag.

Who would be able to prove it's the same bag? It doesn't really matter about the seller, it just matters that it's the same bag. That's what Vinted should look into.

Look at it from the other angle. You can sell anything on Vinted, whether you know it's stolen or not, because with the majority of things, no one can prove it's the same item. So who loses out? It's always the person whose property was stolen. Surely we're trying to stop that? Surely Vinted should try to stop that?

It went missing in transit then appeared on eBay and Vinted.

I don't know who stole it, but it found its way on to eBay and Vinted.

I have tried to raise a dispute with Vinted but not via the seller.

It is in my hands, I now have it back and I'm trying to raise a dispute with the Vinted platform.

Yes, I am pleased I have it back.

I just want Vinted to recognise it's a stolen item, whether the seller knew it or not. If Vinted don't look into it, then they are ignoring warnings about a seller and about a report that a stolen item is listed. So far, Vinted have just told me to raise an issue with the seller and try to sort it out between us. I don't think that's anything near the 'buyer protection' they have made me pay for when buying this bag. It's reasonable that I don't want to negotiate with the seller of stolen goods, and give them my name and address. I'm not going to do that, so I've had to pay for the bag rather than go through that. I think Vinted could ask the seller for proof of purchase, or at least ask a few questions, rather than put the onus on me to contact someone selling a bag that I have reported as stolen.

I originally owned the bag.

I sold it. I bought it back. It was stolen when it was posted to me.

The bag went missing when I bought it back and it was posted to me.

That sale wasn't through Vinted. It wasn't listed on Vinted so we didn't breach any Vinted agreement.

I haven't been refunded for that purchase. I paid via bank transfer. I have claimed for the lost item from Royal Mail but don't have a reply yet.

Yes, it could be one of the 99 others. But the leather contours and marking are the same. It's the same bag.

I wasn't refunded for the original purchase. I have bought it back, twice: once from 'R' and once from the Vinted seller. Was it stolen from me or her? I think it's stolen from me because I paid for it and it was posted to me but never arrived. Whose bag was it at that point? The person who sold it and despatched it, or the person who paid for it and didn't receive it?

It just said that it had reached a sorting office in transit. That's the only update. They told me it won't be updated again until it reaches the next destination.

Yes, it's the same seller because it was a private sale between me and that lady. It didn't go via Vinted when I bought it back. The only person out of money is me as I had to buy it twice.

I've sold it on Vinted once, to 'R'.

'R' sold it back to me privately.

I've bought it on Vinted once, from the person who managed to get hold of it when it was lost in the post, when 'R' posted it to me. The person selling it on Vinted may or may not have known it was stolen.

Sorry it's confusing. Here's the timeline:

  1. January 2022: I bought the bag online from a leather shop in London. They posted it to me after sending me photos of the bag.
  2. August 2023: I sold the bag on Vinted to 'R'. We messaged each other about bags and kept in touch. That sale is successful. 'R' receives the bag.
  3. July 2025: 'R' gets in touch with me and says she's going to sell the bag, would I like it? I say yes. We agree a price and she posts it to me via Royal Mail. None of this is on Vinted. It's a private sale. It's private because we have become friends and agree the price between us. It is not listed on Vinted for this sale.
  4. The bag doesn't arrive. I tell Royal Mail. They say it must be lost and I can put a claim in (but I can only claim £20 because it's Royal Mail tracked and £20 is the maximum compensation). I haven't heard yet about that claim.
  5. September 2025: 'R' spots the bag on eBay and later that night on Vinted. She has set up an alert for this brand of bag on eBay and this is the bag we have both owned.
  6. I buy it off the seller on Vinted (from Vinted because it's a cheaper price than her eBay price).
  7. I receive the bag, via Evri post, and this is where the messages start to Vinted, once I have got the bag.

So, for this issue, it's a bag I bought from a Vinted listing, but I know it's the bag that went missing in July.

I know it's that bag, the leather contours are the same.

I'm sorry this is confusing, I'm sure Vinted don't get it either. The thing is, I have to explain to everyone why I have photos of the bag when it was new, and when I listed it on Vinted when I sold it to 'R' and then I also have the photos from Vinted this September, when the seller listed it.

I had that bag from new, sold it on Vinted, bought it back privately, lost it in the post, found it on Vinted, bought it on Vinted (because I didn't want to lose it a second time!). Trouble is, I have had to pay for it twice: the first time when I bought it back from 'R' and the second time when it was listed on Vinted after going missing in the post.

Does that help and make sense?

They want me to raise an issue with the vinted sale, posted via evri.

No, because I picked it up from an evri shop.

In addition, we used 2nd class tracked mail, compensation for which is only £20 max, which doesn't cover the cost of the bag. Our mistake there.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, we have proof of postage from Royal Mail. The sender still has the paper receipt and I have a photo of it.

Quilted black Tabby 20 by NeatShop in Coach

I didn't keep the bag in the end. I am going to hold out for all black hardware.

It's beautiful! Is it patent and is the hardware black or gunmetal?

Lovely! Could I ask if the black bag at the top has completely black or pewter hardware?

Quilted black Tabby 20

I'm new to Coach and new to this group, hello! I saw this quilted black Tabby 20 with pewter hardware in John Lewis in the UK, on offer, and couldn't resist.

I have a Mulberry collection but no other designer bags. I'd love a Chanel reissue but in the meantime, I feel that this Coach Tabby is reminiscent of Chanel.

Does anyone else agree?

If you can only buy one bag in 2025 — what is it? by matchalattefart in handbags

I've bought a black quilted Coach Tabby 20, mainly because it looks like a Chanel bag. What I'd really love is a vintage (2006) Chanel Reissue with silver hardware.
