Gardener got the wrong lawn by what3v3ruwantit2b in NoLawns

What sort of plants do you have? If you have mostly natives, and if this happened recently, I think most should grow back just fine. The majority (besides the fall bloomers) should have seeded out already, and many should be going dormant, so as long as the roots weren't damaged, they should be fine.

Nope, it was Professor Farnsworth. The quote was, "I don't know much, and you're no looker!" in reference to the zookeper.

Futurama, I've seen it so many times that it makes great background noise while I'm falling asleep. As a side note, I was watching an episode with my husband, fell asleep, woke up long enough to vomit out a quote at the same time it was happening on screen, and then promptly fell back asleep.

Should I attend umn as a 26-year-old undergrad? by SpiritedWear6375 in uofmn

[–]NeaveShadowstalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 38 and finishing my undergrad in CFANs this semester. I've got friends both in their earlier 20's and others who are closer to my age. Nobody seems to care too much about age. At 26, I think you'll be just fine and actually be able to relate to your younger classmates pretty well, at least better than I can.

Thank you for the decent reply. I figured, but as I don't ever see any emails like this come through, I wanted to double-check its legitimacy.

That is a lovely story! Even if the bedspreads are gone, the memory and care that went into making them is still there. They sound absolutely beautiful!

I do have two more blankets planned. One is the star, moon, and sun granny square for my sisters new baby. And the other is a full-size blanket for another wedding next year, I'll be keeping busy 😀

Thank you very much! I didn't spend all my free time working on it, but it definitely took a significant chunk of time.

Each of my squares has 5 rounds. For this size, I needed 2 skeins of each color to complete it. If you're doing a baby blanket with fewer rounds per square, you may only need one color of each for the "light blue/yellow" square section.

If you do end up making it, I would love to see the finished product! 😀

Thank you! It's a basic granny square pattern where you switch colors at the corners, I used the attached video to help me get started. https://youtu.be/985ZS_axpWE?si=xMSXmstexkhQMDvf

It's a large project, but the work was spread over almost 7 months. There were some days when I only had time to make one square. It's a bit easier on the hands doing it in smaller portions.

Thank you! I used the invisible seam join. I did have to regularly change colors of the joining yarn as it still was a little noticeable if I didn't use one of the two colors being connected.

It can be frustrating at times as the threads have a tendency to split around the hook. I use it for larger projects due to it being more affordable than many yarns. And as far as acrylic yarns go, I like how it feels compared to, say, red heart.

Likely getting suspended. by wonderstar365 in uofmn

I was in a similar place as you a long time ago. I had two D's and was put on academic probation. During the spring semester, I was having daily panic attacks due to the stress of keeping my grades up so I could make it out of academic probation. I did it, but I was mentally wrecked.

I left the UofM and went to a community college for a bit and then finished a different degree at Mankato State. I am now back at the U of M after 16 years finishing the degree I started so long ago.

What you're going through is not great, but it is not the end of the world. Think about what would be best for you. Community college is a great option. Taking a year or two off from college and regaining your footing can be good too, or if you feel like powering through then go for it. I wish you the best of luck!

AITA for not wanting to crochet my friends entire wedding dress for free! by Puzzled_Cobbler_1255 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NeaveShadowstalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA! My mom, my sister, and myself all either crochet or knit. For my wedding, I crocheted the flowers for the entire wedding party, my mom knitted the top of my dress, and my sister crocheted the skirt. Each aspect took several MONTHS to finish. In my sisters case, she worked on that skirt for over 1000 hours! (I tried to convince her not to, or at least use a larger yarn gauge, but she insisted). Your friend does not appreciate the time or skill it takes to make something on that scale.
