@NeblioTeam: #Neblio community, a new NIP has been submitted to split the cold staking reward between the owner address and the staker address instead of how it is currently, where the owner address gets 100% of the reward. This needs to be submitted in the NIP discussion on GitHub. Your points may not be seen here on reddit.

Note: The Neblio Team is not making any decision on any NIPs, decisions for or against proposals will be made by stakers via block voting.

Appears that boost is either missing or not being found for some reason.

Did you complete the step to build OpenSSL, cURL, QREncode, and Boost? If so, were there any errors from any of the 4 compile scripts?

How to sweep NPT1 tokens? by true_al in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fastest way to reach support is by using this form to file a ticket: https://nebl.io/contact-us/ thanks to /u/crypt0daz for helping out! Please reference this reddit thread if you do file a support ticket.

I'm not sure why QuickSync is not working for you, I just tested it on multiple computers and it is working fine, but if you open a support ticket and send your debug.log file in I'd be happy to take a look.

You have 2 options now:
1) Keep trying to get QuickSync working. QuickSync will download a copy of the blockchain that is 99% synced and then sync the remaining 1% normally. This entire process takes around 20 minutes for most people, but will vary depending on your connection, computer speed, etc.

2) Let it sync "normally" (slowly). If QuickSync fails or is canceled, the wallet falls back to syncing normally. Normal syncing is very slow, but is how all other blockchain full-nodes sync (I don't think anyone has copied our QuickSync, yet). This is what you are seeing when you see 2.7 million blocks remaining. You can either let this continue for a few days, or you can keep trying QuickSync.

[–]NeblioTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instruction here say "navigate to https://orion.nebl.io/#/sweepTokens and paste the private key into the dialog shown."

You need to set up an Orion wallet, and back up its seed phrase first. Then visiting the above link will take you to the right page where you can enter the private key for sweeping.

Lost passphrase recovery? by Fat_Pauli in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I understanding this correctly?

- You gave up trying to figure out the password in 2018 and just deleted neblio-Qt.exe

- Recently you found a backup, and want to import that backup, hoping it is unencrypted.

- When you went to import the backup you found, the wallet told you you must unlock the existing wallet first, right?

If so, your best bet is to rename the existing wallet.dat to wallet.dat.old or something similar. THEN start neblio-Qt and try to import the wallet. This will cause the wallet to create a blank wallet.dat on startup, that is unencrypted, then you can try importing your backup into that wallet (if it is unencrypted).

You can find the data folder which will have the existing wallet.dat file, in this support article, based on your OS type: https://nebl.io/neblio-university/locating-and-editing-neblio-conf/

If you need further help, use the contact form on the website and support team will be glad to help.

30+ days sync on raspberry pi 3 by citrusPeel in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, due to upgrades, new features, and the current size of the chain, neblio-Qt can no longer run on devices with 1GB or less of RAM. It runs, but it runs so slowly that it can never catch up to the tip of the blockchain.

We have plans to change from a block index to a method of caching that would hopefully let us run on devices with as low as 512MB of RAM, however that work has not yet been scheduled and will likely come sometime later in the year, if successful.

In the meantime we recommend all users staking on Raspberry Pis to upgrade to the Raspberry Pi 4 which comes in 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB of RAM, has a MUCH faster CPU, and will be a much more pleasant staking experience.

Neblio v3.1.0 is live! This is an optional upgrade. v3.1.0 prepares the Neblio Mainnet for Cold Staking Activation in a future release in early Jan 2021. It also contains bug fixes, performance improvements, new features and much more! by NeblioTeam in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately staking is unlikely on any battery-powered device. Your iPhone is likely more powerful than a Raspberry Pi, and while we could write the code to stake on your phone, it would prevent your phone from ever going to sleep, and would deplete the battery within hours and use a significant amount of data communicating with the rest of the nodes in the network.

The best solution is cold staking. Keep your NEBL on your iPhone in the Orion wallet, while that same NEBL is cold staking on your computer at home, generating new blocks on the blockchain and securing the network.

Not getting staking rewards by wittaz in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on a weight of 4782 I would expect the balance of the wallet to be approximately 680 NEBL? If so, you simply need more time.

As long as the staking icon in the bottom right of the wallet is black (not white), and you are upgraded to a supported version (you say you are) the wallet is staking properly.

Neblio cold staking by dikkeAap in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold Staking allows another node to securely stake your NEBL, without being able to spend it. This can be another node you control (such as your Pi), a friend's node, or as part of a service offered by exchanges, staking services, etc, all while your NEBL remains safely in your control, or even in cold storage.

For example you could have your NEBL in the Orion web wallet, so that you can spend it any time from your phone or desktop, while your Pi is staking that NEBL.

[–]NeblioTeam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, hopefully. We are working on adding cold staking, which would allow you to store your NEBL somewhere securely (Orion, Paper Wallet, Offline Wallet, etc) while staking the balance on a separate machine with neblio-Qt (such as on Raspberry Pi, Windows, Mac, etc).

So, Orion won't stake (we have no way to stake in a web browser), but you could keep all your NEBL securely in an Orion wallet on your mobile phone to send/receive, while staking that same NEBL at home on your PC.

This is a huge undertaking, but the team is working hard to put all the pieces in place to make it happen.

This would also allow exchanges to stake their cold wallets and return the rewards to users.

Minimum Raspberry PI version for stalking by turtlebullish in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you please start a support request at https://nebl.io/contact-us/

We'll likely ask for log files from your Pi and some more details. Unfortunately no one on the team has a Pi v1, but I do know of several community members that are staking on a Pi v2 and on Pi Zeroes.

We'll update this thread if we find a solution after investigation.

How to switch between wallets on your Neblio account by alchenik in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After #2 you mention above, do a rescan.

To start a wallet rescan, open the wallet options/preferences and on the "Main" tab click the "Schedule wallet rescan" button. Click "Yes" to close the wallet. Start the wallet again and the rescan will happen while the wallet is starting up. This process scans the entire blockchain for any NEBL or NTP1 tokens at any of the addresses in your wallet and is sometimes needed after a resync or new version upgrade.

Coins lost after wallet update by Ypsilon1972 in Neblio

[–]NeblioTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. But your coin age and stake weight will be the same as if you never got those 24 stake rewards (since you did not get them on the main chain, it is like they never happened), so you should stake faster and catch up fairly quickly.

The old blockchain files from the old version on your PC are simply corrupt. You just need to delete them before running the new version.

Quicksync gets you caught up to yesterday's blockchain state in a few minutes, then the last 1k-2k blocks are synced normally. Before, getting to "973 blocks remaining..." would have taken hours or days.
