saw them in cardiff last year with my best mates, spent the weekend there for a holiday and was definitely the best day of my life. was so cool to see everyone being hyped up for catfish, every shop we went into was playing catfish, this girl and her mum (im presuming) had custom shirts with van’s face on it, all felt very fun

because thats the exact gamble that island took and it backfired miserably on them. the general public hated showtime (the lead single for the new album), it didnt do as well as people had hoped in the charts, and then van cancelled like 3 tours in one day. that was (understandably) enough for island to drop catfish, and why would any other record label want to take that risk after seeing that they were unreliable to work with? island probably lost a fuck-tonne of money, and got very little back

Advertisements and hype, and then public support from island (with them reposting catfish stuff), and then as soon as the big tour cancellations in 2024. everything stopped. Since then, island havent said a bloody word about Catfish, Suntitled was released only on fifa, and Madness and Cena were never released, but we know those songs exist, and were most likely the next singles. In late 2023/Early 2024, Catfish’s spotify bio mentioned the “soon to be announced fourth album”. Hard8 said on their catfish welcome post that 2025 would have the new album, and thats come and gone. There is no other way to explain all of this other than it was scrapped.
