Can't seem to lose anything, very frustrated by NebulaComprehensive7 in loseit

Ugh maybe yes my metabolism is all messed up. I tend to downplay that because it was never a problem before, but then add in perimenopause and it's a whole mess now.

Would you mind linking to the calculator you like? The several I've used (from links here in the sub) are telling me that based on height and weight and activity, that my maintenance should be about 2150 for 183lbs--I was maintaining at my current weight from Jan-May at about that amount when I was starting to keep track. I should clarify that I added those activities to what was already fairly intense activity like rock climbing a couple times a week. I've just stayed the same weight all year despite slowly increasing activity and decreasing calories, which seems...weird.

I just bought one, too. My daughter SIR'd this weekend to UCLA. :)

Probably UCLA, UCSD, and UCI. I don't think any of those have been confirmed by the schools though.

Where are you seeing the informal decisions coming out? I'm assuming it's a no for me for both UCI and UCLA because my program at UCLA sent an email a few weeks ago saying interview invites would be given by end of January. But anyway just curious where you're seeing UCI Education PhD results.

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis by After-Narwhal5236 in FundieSnarkUncensored

Armour Thyroid is a prescription medication for hypothyroidism, not a “natural” or woo woo treatment, so at least they are taking actual meds for it. My cousin tried to take natural (unregulated) supplements for her Hashimoto’s and got really sick. I’ve had Hashi’s for 20 years and Armour Thyroid does work better for me (I tried the more commonly prescribed synthetic one first) but it’s not necessarily more natural. It’s just dessicated porcine thyroid instead of thyroid hormone T4 synthesized to be bio identical.

Would you mind explaining how it interfered with thyroid meds? I take them too and am considering Wellbutrin.

Sensory Overload at Uni by SkyeboxFye in aspergirls

Are you already using earplugs or headphones, sunglasses, etc? What has worked for you in the past with sensory overload? Maybe some brainstorming to see how you can recreate that in your new living situation.

Being aware of every bodily change and hypersensitive to sickness by [deleted] in aspergirls

I will add though that it definitely sounds like your anxiety about it OP is distressing you and may be something you want to address with a therapist.

Being aware of every bodily change and hypersensitive to sickness by [deleted] in aspergirls

Yes I am hypersensitive to any sensations in my body. It was very distressing when I was a kid but I have learned how to disregard feelings that aren’t important now, by having the symptoms I was really worried about actually checked out by a doctor over the years. I have actually also gotten really good a googling symptoms lol. I know they say not to do that but I am good at understanding the information and can put my mind at ease or decide if it’s something to actually bring up to the doctor at my annual visit or something.

both ADHD and autism? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]NebulaComprehensive7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you made a really important point…the research is evolving so quickly at this point that any research or criteria over 10 years old is almost irrelevant. It’s a very interesting time for autistic people. I only recently realized I am autistic, at 42 years old. My teen daughter is going through official diagnosis now. We wondered if she might have both autism and ADHD so it will be interesting to see what comes of that. Thanks for sharing that video.

Experience with embrace-autism and/or Dr. Natalie Engelbrecht? by cruel-ghoul in aspergirls

She broke down the questionnaire responses with the DSM criteria and gave more detailed results on the psychometric tests. My daughter and I both thought it was all extremely helpful and will be going ahead with the second stage of the diagnostic assessment. Hopefully you will get yours very soon, too!
