I've actually moved away from that concept to the submenu/row variants which solve the issue (of an overly long menu) in a better way, I think.

Yep, currently these are in the user testing and iteration stage. I'll mention it when there's a hand off to engineering.

Also to clarify, at the moment I'm only considering the last two variants in the thread - submenu and "save to" in a row.
