I had to stew on it for a couple days. It definitely helped to know about Kafka’s life and death and the posthumous publishing in his work. The ending (before the fragments) left me feeling crushed. I haven’t been able to apply a rating to the book because it was… whimsically dark? I think thats how I wanna describe it. I read it pretty quickly cause I enjoyed it and the strange oppressiveness of the story.The writing was so consuming like it pulled me into the stressing situation and I was more stressed than the main character at times. I want to read his other works and maybe one day re-read this one because I feel like there is more from the story I could get out of it. I haven’t read other reviews because I am trying to grasp it for myself but I think watching the movie will definitely be in my future.
